The temps are going to drop overnight so I’m going to go out this evening and sit the last couple of hours primarily so I can have my gear in the tree for the morning. Still, it could be a decent evening. I am planning on going all the way to the west end of the road I looked at to the stand marked in blue here. The wind is supposed to be out of the NW today and tomorrow so this should be ideal. Two scrapes in front of me and a trail coming out of the woods from the SW. Ha! I’ll probably sit and see nothing but my expectations will be high.
Dnoodles and Cantexians stories the past 2 days reminded me of a brutal hunting story. One night after hunting I stepped on my bow and the string came off. So on like Nov 7th I went to the bow shop and my buddy is texting me he just killed a good one and bucks are running hard. I get my string put back on and head for the afternoon. Bow was shooting good. Within 1 hr a decent buck comes by and I shoot right over his back. I wanted to drink right then and there. LOL
12-15 feet most likely, platform 2-3 feet higher than that depending on hiw big of a step up you are willing to make. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I haven’t seen any from the stand. One of my early season go to doe spots has been a bust the two times I hunted it with my son. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Don't feel bad. I've hunted 14 days @ four hours a sit (56 hours) since our season opened on Sept 21, and I've seen exactly 6 deer. Five doe and a spike.. But, I have gotten two good bucks on cam several times, so I have high hopes for the rut.
I’m up for the evening it’s hot had a stand off with a doe or small buck on the way in jumped it up right off the road I walk in on in some thick stuff and it couldn’t smell me just kept walking back and forth trying to figure me out and finally turned and walked off it was fun Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ok 4th sit of year, feeling epic about this spot. Might need some fine tuning between trees but it’s a pinch point ravine that connects 3 bedding areas. Above is 2 picked crop fields. It’s thick cover for them in here with rubs all around me and head up into another thicket 40 yards from me. There is several crossing trails E to W that are tore up and 2 light trails N to South that run the length of ravine. All the way between bedding areas there is green briar and other browse. not to mention creek access Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Found a load of scrapes and rubs today. Had a bed laying right next to them. Put up a camera to see how big he is. Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
