If you don't think the platform would work, the next best option might be one sticking. But I'll tell you, that takes some practice Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Just had a small buck come to about 50yds but this weird east wind got me busted! Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
I went to a local archery shop this morning. I needed some new felt for my QAD arrow rest. I mentioned this dilemma and he said he uses a rope method. Something about throwing a line over a limb, pulling the actual climbing rope over that limb and then using something along the lines of mountain climbing “ascenders” to climb the rope. When you’re done you just rappel down. I kind of laughed, but it does sound intriguing. I can only imagine how many bad words I’d utter trying to toss a weighted line over the exact limb I want to use.
I still think the Panther platform is worth checking out. It really doesn't require you to cut any limbs. If you're climbing and come to a limb, you just sit off to the side in your saddle and move the platform above the limb. It only weighs 6lb so it's really not a struggle that way Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
You may have a linesman belt already? If not, should get one of those. 1. Linesman belt 2. Tree tether 3. Platform or Ring of steps 4. Climbing method- sticks? 5. Saddle Thats all you need to get started. Can substitute stuff you may already have. Like some guys use there climber base as a platform and Climbing method. But this usually requires fairly limbless trees. Which is the exact reason your looking into Saddle setup. If looking for a cheap setup. You can buy a complete setup like Xop. https://www.scheels.com/p/xop-full-rut-combo-saddle-kit/9675-XOP-FULLRUT Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
This is how our tree climbers did it on the invasive beetle project. It would still take them 30 mins to get up a tree sometimes. It is pretty slick after the ropes are all set!
Chief have you thought about a ground blind? Sounds like a viable option with all the pine trees along the logging roads.
That’s a great way to spend an afternoon. I need a butcher session to take place soon, been awhile since I’ve grabbed a case of Busch Lattes and went to town cutting one up lol
I second this… this is by far the cheapest way to get into it, and as mentioned, XOP does make some good stuff, it’s heavier than the more expensive stuff, but if your used to taking the summit climbing stands in this will feel like nothing
@LittleChief for $200 you could have a blind and a comfy chair to strap to your bike for the ultimate bump and dump setup.
Not gonna happen. I have some standards that I simply will not violate. Using the word “Bruh” is one of them. Have to edit to ask “Is “Bruh” even a word?”
