My buddy’s call me a spot whore, but you can’t kill big ones if they’re not on the prop. So I been scouting finding big deer and then try to get access. I like options and love killing doe and these sections are all in 2B with over the counter doe tags.
Just having a new view, after decades of hunting the same spots. Is enough for me to get serious heart palpitations
Went back through all of my pics. He’s on the back 40 a 3-4 times in the last few weeks. I need to lock in. A month until season… just got the feeling that I’m WAY unprepared. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
catching up on the thread.... c'mon man. You know Joe's eyes went straight to this and he stared at it for 4 straight hours.
costco had 40 packs of DuraCell PowerBoosts for $16.99 last weekend. Not sure if still on sale. I bought them, but first time so I won't know for a month or so. Seem to be going strong on busy cams for a week now.
last weekend went up to central 'Sconnie, sprayed and mowed, planted late season tubers and such, set up 3 new StealthCam Revolvers... Had this guy and a few other bucks on one cam by Sunday night, but this is the best pic on him and he's the biggest buck on cam so far... (yeah, that's my stand 25 yards away) he's a 10pt. There's also a really nice 8 that's almost as big, and this cool big 6 that's a typical 4 on one side, long beam and tall brow on the other: I think he's only 2.5 though so he'll prob get a pass given that WI is one buck. This guy in the back is in trouble if he comes by: The one in the front there is a great deer, probably score better than anything I have killed, but he's only 3. Got a couple other 130-140 12 points running around too. 2.5 12 points that I would prob pass LOLZ!!! Can't hardly believe I am even typing that. But we haven't taken a buck off this property in 4 years (I think the neighbors have only taken 2-3 120-ish 2.5yos) and it shows. It's holding an awesome bachelor group. I've got these guys patterned pretty good and I'm praying they stick to it through opening weekend. Pulled out the Bowtech for the first time this year, walked out to 25, 10 ring, backed up to 35, 10 ring, 45, yanked it high just above the 8 (my fault) but aligned correctly, 55, 8 ring. Other than the one I yanked, <3" group. Put her back in the case and left her in the camper ready to rock come opening morning. I'll keep shooting my backups back at home to get the muscles built up.
^^ those must be really stupid deer to come out when season is open with that stand sticking out like a sore thumb .... main reason I dont like ladders ..
the pines actually hide it better than this angle shows, they traverse left/right/right/left through there. The cam is on the far side of the plot and they never walk in from that way. But I also wear a leaf suit so I'm good long as I see/hear/draw on them before they clear the pines. They're in range soon as they do. ...that said, I do need to hit it with a few touches of bedliner spray to darken her up a bit. It faces due south and faded bad in the sun over the summer.
have you thought about wrapping the legs/metal in a leafy camo material ?? ... ladders can be comfortable for sure, and prolly safer than what many use ....
Went out to my land earlier in the week, walked the lot, cleared some trees, some chain saw work, envisioned where I'd hang stands...now recovering from both poison ivy and chiggers. Found some chanterelles and coral mushrooms...
we got a 'yote pack hanging around, too. Or at least I think they are big 'yotes or maybe wolf hybrids? The adults are huge but colored like 'yotes. We do have wolves for sure, but usually they are solo or in pairs, and most of the ones I have on camera over the years tend more toward black. nose to rump, wide as the ATV trail ^^^ I mean, if 'yotes, they're freaking huge. Almost have to be hybrids. Definitely bigger than my buddy's 70# lab. I've read that a lot of eastern coyotes have over 50% wolf DNA.
