Damn bro! That’s awesome! Now kill something with it! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Back at home. Sat until 9:30, didn’t see a thing. Put in a mock scrape, relocated a camera to it and changed the card, and walked to lower stand to check the straps on it. They were fine but a bit tight from tree growth, so adjusted them. Ready for next time. Today was just kind of a trial run and some tree therapy. Will be a solid three weeks before any pre rut action starts here.
I am done hunting for the weekend. Too hot this afternoon and too busy tomorrow. My kids are on fall break Monday and Tuesday, I may take my youngest out Monday afternoon while he older brothers are at football practice. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Good luck guys, company left a little bit ago. Suppose to rain next three days so we'll see what happens Today I got a lot done before they came so ...hopefully,.... I'll be free to hunt as will. BTW I made a Habenaro sauce Holy Hell! Lol
Back on stand for the afternoon. It’s gotta be better than this morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok the actual cold front isn’t hitting until tomorrow. I’m finally in a tree. I do it every year… don’t practice setting up my run and gun setup. So loud and clunky. On the inside corner of a corn field with thick bedding to my south. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Squirrels all around me. Beechnut dropping. Wnw winds 4-7mph. 64. Just under 2 hrs to go. squirrels driving me crazy. Chippies too
My first official live from the stand sit of the season - I'm sitting on my own piece of property behind my house where a meadow, hardwoods and hemlocks all come together hoping just to put my eyes on a deer this evening
I took the day off hunting. About 11:30 I moved one of my cell cams over to cover the best scrape on the trail that leaves my property across the road. After that took the E-bike and went scouting/exploring on the new property. I’ll just say I was blown away at the sign. Anyine who is familiar with OnX knows the scrape icon. This time I marked every scrape I saw but I practically never left the road. This is a record of my exploration so far. The road going up that north ridge is tore up. I marked a few possible stand sites. The blue stand icons are where I’ve already hunted. A few zoomed in shots from the north ridge road: I have a problem. There are almost no trees that can be climbed without stripping a ton of limbs off and I don’t like doing that. Deer notice a huge difference in habitat like that. There are pine trees (which I’ve been using) but pine sap is getting on my gear. I either need to get a lock-on and sticks or I need to switch to the dark side and explore saddles. Ugh.
Any recommendations on a comfortable saddle? I can’t afford one that’s too pricey. (I can’t believe I’m asking this.)
I have a Cruzr XC which is very comfortable. This year I also purchased something brand new to saddle hunting, a Panther quick climb self climbing platform. No climbing sticks needed. The way you like your climber this might be perfect for you. Not trying to convert you or anything, but you asked! Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Latitude Maverick. Simple, very minimal and a great price (199.00). So comfortable Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
This place is making me think about giving up a bit of comfort. I’ve never seen deer sign like this. My objective will be to get up in a tree without having to cut any limbs. I’m not sure the Panther platform will help that much.
