We're back home. No shots, but we saw 3 doe and could have shot a small 5 point. It was the first deer my son has seen while hunting so it was pretty cool. He said he had fun and that's what it's about! Sent from my SM-S908U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I ended up seeing the one buck and three does. The does came out north of me and went north. Now, for the rest of the story: My neighbor has a pit mix dog and a big one. This afternoon, for the first time, it came out into the road and chased me. I out ran it. Coming back home he came at me again. This time he had the jump on me and he was right at my leg. I was going about 19 mph. I swerved while watching the dog. I turned my head back to the front just in time to see that I was going off the gravel road. I locked up the brakes and slowed down quite a bit before I hit a huge rock in the grass. I actually flipped over forward and the bike landed on me. I fought to get up because the dog was there. He just barked but I was livid. My pistol came out of my pocket and I almost shot him but he didn’t seem aggressive at that point. I yelled at him to go home and he did. I got the bike up and it was fine. My right shoulder took the brunt of the impact but I think I’m okay. I got home, got in the truck and drove over to the neighbor’s house. I didn’t go to complain. He is a good neighbor, but I wanted to find out if the dog was actually his and if it was friendly. The big, stupid dog is as friendly as can be but he likes to chase. His name is Kong. Going forward I’ll ride by slowly and talk to him. If he gets too wound up the neighbor said to fire a round off because he’s terrified of guns. Hopefully I don’t have to do that. Fun evening.
I think that if I were hunting there I’d have a couple of fishing poles and a tackle box along with me. Looks like a beautiful spot for it.
There are a lot of big fish caught in there due to low water. I could see and also hear fish smashing top water. I talked to a guy last week and he said he caught a 13 lb blue cat in there which is cool. Man its been a slow start to my season. Not many days to hunt and only 1 doe seen.
It’s my cousins property I only see him a couple times a year and he lives about 25 minutes from the property and doesn’t seem to care who goes on it. I asked him if he would be willing to sell it to me a few years back but he doesn’t want to sell it but I don’t think he ever sets foot on it. He also does not hunt. It’s a nice piece.
glad you're OK. I've probably gone head over heels on my bike past 3-4 years while hunting more times than I did in 4-5 years of pretty hard 'normal' mountain biking. Fricking ruts and fallen limbs tend to pop up out of nowhere when you have your bow slung over your back. ...apparently dogs too.
Sorry so late guys. Only got one picture of that doe and no buck came through. No trifecta for me today, boo hoo. Good day overall though. Any day I put 2 deer down, I'll take it!
Central MN was crazy tonight. I’m in town and got these. Maybe it’s a sign for this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
