Thanks, it least I got a shot and clean miss if it had to be bad. Though you know me, miss tight wad, poof there goes well over $10.00 which stings! Besides even with the bow on the rail. My breathing was that of a 12yr. old new hunter. You'd thing I'd run a 3 min. mile just before putting eye to scope...lol
This feels so good to be in a tree. Very little wind. 39 degrees this morning walking in. I’ve seen 2 deer, doe and a fawn. 70-80 yards away going away from me. Lucky for the doe. Squirrels keeping me active. I’m eating some chestnuts that a friend picked up from his tree. No I haven’t dropped any. They are to darn good to drop for the deer. Good luck everyone. Keep your head up OND. We all do it at one point or another.
Four does came in from the west coming straight to me. I’m wide open that direction and I’m low. The lead doe got to 25 yards facing me dead on and spotted me. That was that. I guess they’re not totally stupid. This tree is just no good.
Little 4 pt came thru. Not legal plus 50 yards out. Slow and steady. Stop every 30 or so feet and looking around about 0853
Saturday morning can not get here fast enough. I am going to be worthless at work the next couple of days. There is a big field across the street from my kids school that feeds into woods and creek bottom. We have been seeing 4-10 deer in it every morning this week when I drop the kids off. It is private property, but the consistent deer movement an hour after daylight is very encouraging for this weekend. My kids are on fall break Monday and Tuesday. The older boys have football practice from 2:30 to 5:15, I was planning on hunting solo Monday evening, but, I may have to take my youngest with me and sit somewhere on the ground if he wants to get out. He has been asking.
Milton update- my parents are A-OK. Lost power for a few hours but have genny backup and the power was back on by dawn. This is the third major one that's hit them in the past 7 years or so with little/no damage. They're so lucky. Dad already texted me griping that he barely has enough time to clean up the debris in the yard before he flies up to deer camp.
