I'm going with the fact that it was the Grim Reaper and they couldn't detect your presence........

At the coops blind again, winds picked up and switched WNW. This time I'm armed with a scrape scent, call and rattling block, I won years ago.
Geez, I better get something soon. Tuna noodle was just turned off when I left at 3. Note set out for rest of dinner. He's not a big casserole fan and we've already had two soups' and a crock pot roast. Then there were 2 chef salads.

I never eat "casseroles." I believe it to be a French word that means; "We don't know what's in it!"

Oh, my casseroles are pretty good. Egg noodles. I usually use my home made ones. Fresh sliced mushrooms, roasted red peppers. Cream, cheese, garlic and various spice then albacore tuna or chicken.

Hhmmm....it just got real dark . I'm rapidly losing blue skies to battle ship grey over cast. I really do not want to be quartering out a deer in the rain. cold but not enough to hang.

I'm back in the stand. This my old faithful. Over the years I have seen and killed more deer from this spot than any other. Wind has really picked up but so far it's from a good direction for me

I’m back up in a tree. I was going to sit one of the other spots I had marked but the wind was wrong.

I ended up moving 70 yards north to see if a buck does the same thing the one did yesterday.

Those scrapes are active because I’m getting a strong urine smell. I haven’t peed myself so that’s gotta be it. .

If one shows up it’s going to be up close and personal. 20 yards is my max shot here.

The nice thing is I’ll hear him coming.

Does are off the menu tonight.

Every year after that first couple days in the woods, that’s all I want to do after. Can I retire now and work when I am 70? They make reverse mortgages, how about reverse retirement!

    Good luck out there!

When I retired, my 30 something boss said she was going start identifying as a 67yr old so she could retire. I told her to go ahead, it just might work. Seems you can identify as anything you want now.

That strong urine smell isn’t coming from the scrapes. It’s coming from uphill in the thick cover.

It’s too early for a buck to have a rutted up smell, right?

Hopefully it's not someone else who's not supposed to be there, dumping out a bunch of scent

Nope, bucks stink all the time. Definitely more in the rut, but you can definitely smell them now.

I seriously doubt anyone is hunting upwind of me in this:
    upload_2024-10-8_17-22-21.jpeg
Hundreds of acres of this stuff upwind of me.
