It's been heaven here in indiana this year as far as mosquitoes go. Not one time, in my trips to the woods, have they been a problem. I don't know why but I'll take it. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Spent yesterday afternoon butchering the doe I killed Saturday morning. She is in the freezer. I prefer to let deer sit on ice for 2-3 days before butchering, but I am going to be too busy with family stuff in the evenings this week to do it after work. Took my youngest out for a celebratory DQ blizzard last night while my older boys were at youth group. Got the broadhead resharpened and back in the quiver for the next hunt. I won't be back in that exact tree to hunt that particular buck bed. I may hunt that spot again, but not that exact tree. When it got daylight on Saturday morning, it was pretty obvious that the drought we have had has killed the grass he was bedding in, not enough cover left to use that exact bed.
Awesome job VS, all that hard work scouting pays off!! looking forward to you going back in there and killing the buck.
I saw two right after first light. Couldn’t tell what they were. That was it. I got down at 10:00 and moved my stand 55 yards south. If the wind doesn’t mess me up and the deer do what they did yesterday I’ll do well this afternoon. I did spot what was left of my arrow lying 26 yards from my tree before I climbed down.
Heading to the woods in a little while. New spot. Public ground. Good sign nearby. 2 fresh scrapes. No service there again so I will have to update after the hunt. That's the only downside to hunting deep in the big woods for me.
Congratulations Tink and Brett! Nick, good luck finding him Man, I can’t wait to join the party! Johnny, you kill anything yet??? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

That hurts even if you get a deer. I remember a few years ago I launched a arrow with lighted nock and a Ironwill broadhead over a deers back down into a swamp. Never found that arrow. That hurt. It was around a $50-55. Arrow. Made me sick. Took those broadheads off that night and went back to a more economical head. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
The Ass & His Shadow A Traveler had hired an Ass to carry him to a distant part of the country. The owner of the Ass went with the Traveler, walking beside him to drive the Ass and point out the way. The road led across a treeless plain where the Sun beat down fiercely. So intense did the heat become, that the Traveler at last decided to stop for a rest, and as there was no other shade to be found, the Traveler sat down in the shadow of the Ass. Now the heat had affected the Driver as much as it had the Traveler, and even more, for he had been walking. Wishing also to rest in the shade cast by the Ass, he began to quarrel with the Traveler, saying he had hired the Ass and not the shadow it cast. The two soon came to blows, and while they were fighting, the Ass took to its heels.
I’m set up for the evening hunt. It’s 90 degrees and feels like 94. I only have to walk a quarter of a mile through the woods but I’m drenched by the time I get here. I brought the Ozonics with me this time. I moved 55 yards south. Let’s see if any of the deer from yesterday do what they did.
