Sounds like you were in the deer! It was hot here today. I wouldn’t like being in the stand yet.

Man all those snake pictures reminded me that I really need to buy some snake boots, We've got a bumper crop of copperheads this year.

It was pretty hot here. 81 degrees. Humid and steamy, but seeing 12 deer made it worth it.

About the same temps with maybe little less humidity and I didn't see ****. Starting off with a bang this year.

    Bit more on shot details?

You definitely got lung, whether it be one or double that blood pic tells no lies.

I think you find him in the morning. First kill of the season, trying to get others and the dog involved, a bit of intrusion(venomous snakes) along the way, a lot of distractions and a few doubts.

Best to back out and recover with a fresh and clear head. He's dead, just follow the path that makes sense.

He was 20 yards, slightly quartering away. He was spooked, as I was moving to get my bow ready, I clanked my bow against my tree stand. I think he's a dead deer as well. Just not as much blood as I would like. The dog was my wife's idea, she was getting very impatient about everything. Unfortunately I won't be back on the track til 4 this afternoon. I'm hoping to get everything I need to done early, and I can get back out sooner.

Thanks everyone. That low light has put a hurting on me this season. Struggling to see through my sight housing. Took my time yesterday and just slowly released with good follow through. Nicked top of spine and exited low behind from leg. She hit the deck and was in trouble but not dying fast enough so I shot her again. Pretty sure the buck I was in there for came out downwind of me and spooked. I saw a larger brown body at 60 yds hit my wind and bolt. Looked behind me and that doe was already within 10 yds. Made it a quick game.

Yes. We had a bulldozer run one over and kill it once and people showed up to shut down the work site to find and remove it.
