@vermontwhitetail, how you making out with the flooding, my son says its not to bad in Burlington. not YET thou stay out of the rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol
Woke up this morning to this guy running through the back portion of my property August 15th can't get here soon enough!
Coworker hit me with a new one today. Never heard of it before, nor seen it on shows or this forum(may have missed though). Hanging a large rope so it is near licking branch level. The way he explained it is you have to fray the end of the rope pretty good and deer(mostly bucks?) will hit it hard. Google search shows some legitimacy to it, anyone actually practice it?
Thick grape vine near a mock or real scrape. They hit it like crazy. Check out whitetail habitat solutions on YouTube. Tons of good info on this
I have a buddy that does this and swear by it, I use a grape vine about 1” wide with excellent results.
Need to look into this, easily done on private but don't see a reason why I couldn't try it on public?
I’ve found em on public…Wild scuppernong vines are more common than a cultivated grape in the central and coastal areas in the SE…
I do it on public land as well, nothing wrong with it and they flat out work. Just bring some paracord and a knife and you’re set.
If I was on stand today I might have had a crack at this guy. It’s been nuts here since 1230ish. Helicopters, SWAT, State police, we’ve had the state police using our home phone because they have no cell service here. https://wnbf.com/police-search-armed-man-fenton/. Thank goodness I’m not another 40lbs.
We are good. The worst of it went north of us in Barre and Montpelier and then Bethel and Stockbridge. Luckily the White River has a huge flood plain by us and I dont have any mountain creeks or run off that come directly by the house. My 3' wide creek is about 280yds from the house and doesnt effect much except the lower field. Some pics of the 3rd Branch of the White River.
Glad your dry VTW, my son is in Rutland, everything around them is under water, everything is shut down, great people of VT are all helping those who are in water. Looks like your getting more today and all weekend.
I'm usually a no-glove guy but these are intriguing. Don't think I can justify spending $70 on gloves though.
I have a pair similar to that and I find them to bulky. I use a fingerless thin cotton glove. I would use no gloves, but got to keep the mosquitoes off some how. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Agreed. I’ve been using a pair of scent lok lightweights that I cut the fingers out of for probably 10 years now. Bought a new pair this spring as it was time (and a good sale) and will do the same. I tried mitts and it was too cumbersome. Prefer to use a light glove and when it gets cold, use a hand muff. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I got the guide light touch. I'm not in MN tho, but I'd probably go with a muff if I did. Plus I could take my muff everywhere and tell people how much I love my muff.
