Sometimes, you need to accept your wife's label for you (a$$hole) and live up to the hype. I'll be out this afternoon/evening!

lol, she said the other couple backed out. I'm free and clear to kill this afternoon! I'm going to check out a few white oak patches and try to kill a doe.

Welp we are getting hit with this tropical storm. Going to start pouring around lunch and go almost into Sunday. Guess I will be thinking of hunting rather then sitting in a tree. Hopefully it quits and I can get out Sunday afternoon or at least by Monday morning. Deer should be on their feet. Calling for 2-4 inches of rain.

Start putting aside $25 here and there. You can start building points in a few states but you need a chunk of change to play.

WY Gen takes about 5pp, but there is a random element.

MT you have about a 25-30% chance with 0 pp, but the tag is something like 1200.

CO you can hunt OTC with 0 (I suspect only for the next year or two) or some decent units <5pp. With the small game (pre req) and elk tag you're at about 850.

ID & NM are all draw/random, I don't recall their tag fee.

AZ & NV require a good number of pp, but one of them (NV, I think) also has a random element.

VA, TN, KY have lotteries, I think.

    I don't recall PA.

A few other states have red only tags, including MO, I believe...SD, and maybe WI or MN...

Foundations/orgs like gov tags, rmef, etc also have some lotteries.

Once you have a stash of about $1000-1500, or if you start playing the randoms, give me me a shout.

Looks like I'll be in a tree this eve...again little reception. Oaks are dropping acorns pretty steadily now, so let's see how that changes things. Doe patrol. It'll have to be a pretty special buck to get an arrow tonight.

Got in clean, I think. Didn't jump any deer that I could see. Sitting a great spot. Had many deer encounters here over the years. Found a couple white oaks dropping acorns like crazy and a couple fresh scrapes. I moved about 75 yards closer to bedding, in a funnel. Have a few heavy trails going around the tree I'm in, with some big fresh tracks in them.
