Looks like I am a little late to the party!!! Hope everyone had a good spring. I got out once for Turkey season and really haven’t been in the woods at all until today, life with a now 8month old leaves very little time to get out and scout, going to be relying on MD pretty heavy this year, along with a few spots close to home. Had my Tactacam out but that died on May 31st. Dad and I finally got down to MD today and replaced the batteries, sprayed the foodplot with some grass killer and mowed them down. I have two tactacams coming in next week. We’ll be back down in about a month to get the new plots planted and stands hung/saddle tree prepped. Here are some pictures from back in may, turns out the big 10pt I had on camera last year was in velvet all year long and as of may still hadn’t dropped his antlers from last year, no idea what will happen to him this year but the camera should tell me soon! ND Labor Day opener tag purchased. Probably won’t have time to do a pre scout weekend so will likely go to our same spots as last year. Getting pumped now!

Enjoying the evening by a campfire with the wife, and there are 15 deer in field behind the house. 3 or 4 nice bucks. ( Legal on this side of Pa ) and 3 or 4 that are not legal, ie. spike & 4 pts. And about 7 does.

Closest they came to the yard was about 80 yards.

    Great night

Pick up a bow and start shooting. Look at trail cam pics. Look at new spots or topo maps of old spots. Stuff like that will help get you going.

I havent shot my bow yet this Spring or Summer but the trail cams have me going.

Checked all of my cameras. Changed batteries in 4 of them. Will report back with what I find. Not much hope as of right now. Drainage and creek is already completely dry which is very concerning. We need rain so damn bad. Had 3 ticks stuck on me again. Suckers are bad.

Crops not looking the best, but I did check the few white oaks we have and they are loaded with acorns.

Shot my bow for about an hour yesterday at 20yds. First time shooting since last fall. Had some shoulder discomfort afterward.

Didn’t take long to get my answer on the 10pt that never shed… here he is on the left, I know it’s him due to the mass by his male parts. Looks like he just grew off the velvet antlers that never shed IMG_0861.JPG

Amazing how fast stuff grows with proper rain, the water hole is getting hit and the clover has filled in nicely. The growth in 8 days is impressive.

Anyone ever have issues with Browning trail cameras eating batteries? I got 2 brand new ones last fall on Black Friday. Put out for the first time this a month ago. It took about 150 pictures and was dead. I did read reviews about it happening... Was just hoping I wouldn't get a defective one.

I have a couple older browning and no issues, contact them they have good CS. You using lithium or ALk batteries? I typically use alk in all cams and have no issues

Sorry LC I didn’t see this. Yessir, Cape Girardeau. I live just outside of town and the small airport here has a connection in Nashville. Super convenient.
