Got myself a Barbary sheep tag transferred to me from a buddy who is now deploying in New Mexico. It will be this winter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No service to keep you all up to date on this mornings hunt. Got setup without busting a thing. As soon as it starts to get light I had a deer coming down the trail I was on and started blowing at about 40 yards. Wind must of been swirling because the wind was good for that spot. I was about 1 mile off a huge bean field sitting right near bedding. I will be back out this afternoon hoping they come out of bedding heading out to the main food source.
Getting ready to head back to stand. No service where I hunt so I will update if I can or when I get back home. Good luck to anyone getting back out there.
Glad to see yall getting after it! Today is all about staying home, chilling with my lady and banking some points before the real chaos begins. Kill!
I went over and did some looking. I believe any deer that beds where this one was is coming in along the north fence line. I’d never see them from where I’ve been sitting. The thicket itself is not huntable but I found a tree that gives me a 30 yard shot to the fence. I contacted the new owner of the property to my north to make sure it would be okay to track on his land. He said no problem. That’s a good thing because if I shoot one there it’s definitely going to run into his property. Also. I found a few beds and took a pic of this one. It has a nice, big, fresh deer turd right at the bottom of it.
I'm back on stand moved about a mile from where I was this morning. As I got out the truck I noticed bear tracks in the sand on the road. I'm hoping that doesn't become a regular occurrence. I've only ever seen 1 deer after a bear encounter. If I notice a trend I'll probably get a bear tag and try to fill it. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk
I’m in my bear stand hoping it’s better with the colder temps. It’s grouse opener today so I don’t know if that is going to hurt bear movement during daylight hours yet.
