We saw our first two buck the other day. Coming up the hill about 3/4 mile from the house. They stopped and gave us time to stop and talk to them. 5 " ham bones as I call them. In that the ends looked like a big ham bone knuckle.

Haven't had a tom close since the unfortunate miss the first week. I took scout out to potty this morning to a tom thunder gobbling mere yards away in the new clover trail plot...lol
Scout nearly ripped my arm off when he hit the end of leash pointing like a Setter.
    Figures...

The green transition from farm field to our more open woods is greening / thickening up nicely. I have a few more trees to drop in a couple of days after turkey season. A couple are huge dead ash. Then a couple of half rotted beech and maples that have to come down. All big and a couple will need winching to assure direction to avoid crushing blind. Not looking forward to a few of these. Left standing isn't an option for safety. Thankfully rot is well above cutting area ,so a controlled drop should be no problem on a calm day. Just not leaners at all.

A little late, but setting up stands, moving stands, and loosing stands. Getting prepped. I'm going to plant turnips and radishes this year in the cornfield. There are numerous places small spots they plow/disc, but don't plant because too many rocks. These spots are under the center pivot. I'm hoping late season, once the corn is picked, the deer will be drawn to these spots - all within shooting range of a 450 bushmaster.

Walked up on a fawn yesterday in the woods. Quick pic and then hustled out of there. 1000007371.jpg 1000007375.jpg 1000007372.jpg

No turkey but so worth the effort, 20 yrds infront of me. We were using same tree. Him at top and me against the root ball. He stood to stretch then disappeared again.

My absolute sincerest hope and daily wish is that NYC sinks into a pit of hell far , far worse than Chicago, Detroit Portland or L.A. EVERY could be. That the worst of it all starts and ends in the " money" districts. May they feel the pain and dispare they are ushering in with zero justice ever afforded them. Live a long and miserable life.

    Hey true
Nieghbors dogs killed my entire herd of animals just as they were to givng birth. Then made an elaborate scheme to get officials to think it was someone elses dogs. Well I left them in the field and put up cams. ONLY THEIR DOGS RETURNED.
I spent 3 years wishing for them to feel what my goats went through.....
Well lets just say weeks and weeks in hospital, loss of most of intestines, colostomy bag , etc,etc
Then the following year destroyed shoulder.
I'm patient, NYC should be worried , it only takes a moment a day to make that wish.....

So turkey season ended. I had the grandsons yesterday and took a Gator ride. On the trail that goes past where my last sit was, there was the biggest wing feather I've EVER seen. We stopped so grandson could have it. You could see where I'd been set up. He then found the matching wing feather and area he'd been dragging them in a circle. Even husband couldn't believe how big they are....lol
    I still have fall...

I went out and checked the farm corn/ hay field.. just 2 doe and 1 fawn in field .There was another that was in our woods trying to get to field but it busted me and snorted away.

Hhmmm I now have zero idea of what is going in field next door. I thought for sure corn. Now well heres what they've done
    .sprayed manure
    Chisled it in
Then came up with a load of some type of mineral.
    Deep plowed
    Disc
    Firmatator
    Yesterday broadcast something
    Today rolled it hard
    ?????????
I would think the only thing they would broad cast would be a clover or alfalfa, but isn't it too late or way too early for those? Dairy farm
