Got it done about an hour ago! Was out this morning for a couple hours and had 2 hens come by. Then a couple hours later I heard a gobble so I ran back out to the blind and a lone Tom came in following 4 hens. This is my first turkey and I have to say it was a pretty fun experience. I shot him at 18yds head on full strut, hit him right beside/above his beard and he flopped away maybe 20 yds and died, I think I hit the vitals too.
Sweet shot there!!! Our, MI, season opens tomorrow. I'll be out with my bow. I don't like hunting out of a blind, so it's pretty tough...but we have a long season.
Another warm one this morning chasing turkeys...I should've joined RidgeRunner3 as I think he's in some cooler country these days. Bout time to start up some callin...
Group of Tom's and Jake's came in perfect to the decoy at 18 yards. I aimed at the beard on a strutter and somehow missed. I don't know how, but I whiffed. Talk about sick. I've waited years for that shot with a bow.
Good luck RR. I'm out with my bow until 10. I was hunting a field. Gobblers were all in the woods north. Moved closer 30 minutes ago.
In a spot with a bit of signal. Heard 2 gobbles around 7. Sounded like they were on private to the north. Around 7:45 I got up to make a big loop...try to get on a narrow strip of land that nobody hunts on the west edge of that private. Packed up the decoys and got 10yds past them and scare a silent one of the roost... Think it was a hen tho. Jumped a doe along the way. Nothing responding. I'll give it another 30min here...
