Jumped about a half dozen does. Found a ton of lone buck beds and also covered over 5 miles. I have so much to learn about island deer. Look at these deer runs on the island and right across the chute to the other side....

And the buck beds...all full of hair. I walked by 2 I could smell and within 10 yds I found them.

Love to see that scouting passion VS, I’ve been wanting to get out but have been so busy prepping for baby boy making his arrival in a few weeks.

Man I walked a lot today on a place 60 miles away. Place is intriguing map wise and I thought people would have difficulty accessing this place. Nope. Way too much access. Place crossed off.

I did get to see some cool stuff though and found a place to fish.

well, yesterday I think I found and trimmed up the last of my new locations for next season ... went in to trim up an existing location, finished it and then started walking along the edge of the crp/marsh/woods and deep in a corner I found a spot I couldnt resist, great travel corridor, esp for North/NW/NE winds, trimmed it up, looks good .. ... that is now 8 new locations for next season, if the winds/weather cooperates to get into these spots during the rut that is .... that is now 52 various stand locations ... can one have too many stand locations ....

Scouted out a new location today that got me pretty excited. The blue outline is my aunt’s property and it has some state land around. The green line was my route today to try to get an idea of the lay of the land. There’s probably the most picture perfect bench/ pinch point where the yellow dot is, that’s where I’m expecting to put my stand. I believe I found 2 buck beds in the open timber I marked in red. I think it would be nearly impossible to hunt near them as the deer could see you coming from a long way away. Here are some pics from. I about through up when I seen these 2 vehicles on my aunt’s property. I put up to cameras on the bench, I’m also out of tree stands so it looks like it’s time for another one. Which river is that? Looks like a good flathead river.

Scouted two islands. Left my kayak out there so I can walk more this Saturday. I found a bunch of buck beds.

Put down like 6 or 7 miles plus a couple miles kayaking. Always amazes me when I find hidden beds. 1000016885.jpg 1000016886.jpg 1000016887.jpg 1000016889.jpg 1000016894.jpg

Part of this place was recently converted to public. I started seeing mostly old but some newer 4 wheeler sign on the island. Figured they came across the chute during low water or maybe during a freeze. Look at the slobs that used to own this place...serious. An island. wth. 1000016897.jpg 1000016898.jpg 1000016896.jpg

Think it might be stolen stuff just taken out there? I've found some stolen stuff before, but nothing to that magnitude.

Looks like more long term use. Deer camps and such. They had several lawnmowers out there as well. The place has been taken care of in that way. It's gonna explode with growth this year if no one maintains and I'm OK with that.

Definitely be a benefit if it grows up some. Hopefully old tenants don't show back up and try to keep it going.
