I hear you. Different agencies and jobs but after 33yrs in law enforcement, nothing but relief to retire. I super enjoyed my job until 2017, then everything changed and VT lost its mind. In 2020 it just got worse and policing has suffered irreversible harm. Now the police are more regulated then the criminals and the police are treated like criminals. I was so happy to be done June of 2023. I now mow in the Summer and nothing else. More time to raise and spend time with my boys, the last of six. I also have plenty of time to work on my house, garden, can food, hike, snowshoe, hunt and fish. An incredible stress relief. I've also learned how to make cheddar cheese!
PS Be in a NJ stand Thursday Friday and Saturday afternoons this week. Last three days of the NJ archery season. One more shot at a Winter Buck!
The cheese looks awesome. Are you going to age some? I sure like a sharp cheddar. I used to go to WI deer hunting, and while I was there I'd stop at an Amish cheese house. All their cheeses were $4-5/lb....except the cheddar aged 8 years - $17/lb. Worth every penny. MELTED in my mouth.
I'll only age it 3-6months, but as time goes on I'll probably stretch that out to a year or so. I like sharp cheddar to but I'm probably not patient enough. Plan on making 4 of those small cheese rounds a month from here on out.
That looks like Flicker damage, known for pecking anything Shiney and houses. We have one less one around thanks to a whole being drilled in the house last montb. He apparently got bored rapping on the eves troth.
Just curiuos guys. Did all of you getting the flu have a flu shot? Curiuos because every single year after turning 50 I'd get a flu shot. I had a life of respiratory issues with pneumonia and walking pneumonia several times. Every single year I got the flu. After my stupidly getting the "jab", with it's bad reaction,I stopped all shots. I havent had the flu since. Did get covid not long after the shot but nothing since. I find it to be strange.
When I was working, it was mandatory to get a flu shot every year, I worked in a hospital. Since I retired I don't take it. The thing with flu shots is there are so many strains of flu, it's hard to know exactly what strain will be prevalent. They can't vaccinate against all of them so they try to determine which will be the most active for that season. They usually do ok but I've also seen years where they were way off. And doesn't it figure I'd manage to get the strain not in the shot, every year...LOL Though still no shots and zero flu , I still wonder...
I never had a flu shot in my life until I began working in a hospital 11 years ago where it is mandatory for employment, never had the flu either. In the past six years, I have had the flu three times, all after having a flu shot, including having it this past weekend. The annual flu shot is created from the viral strain from the previous year, which seems to me to be a logical fallacy. If you didn't get the flu last year, and the virus has had a year to mutate, how is a vaccine based upon the strain that didn't make you sick going to improve immunity against a new variation? IMHO, your body is already immune enough or its not, the viruses change too often for the vaccinations to be effective. I am the only person in my family who gets the flu shot, and only because my employer requires it.
Never had a flu shot that I know of, havnt had 'the flu' since school days (I'm 66)..... never got a damn jab for covid, never had covid that I know of either (proud pure blood)... The covid jabs can kill ya ... and the flu shots are generally only 40% effective as they are ....
