Wow. Haven’t seen a thing so far. I’m going to give it another hour but I feel like if I were going to see deer I’d have already seen them.

I think word got out that you were out there and the deer were issued a "shelter in place" order!!

After I got down I went to scout out where the deer I saw yesterday went and I found out.

I picked out a triple tree that is covered in vines and it’s right on the field edge. It’s an aggressive move for this place considering how the deer look for hunters, but I should be somewhat hidden by the vines. The wind is going to be perfect for it so I’ll give it a shot this evening and tomorrow morning (weather permitting).

    Thanks.

I may not kill one here this afternoon or tomorrow morning but before the season is finished I’ll bet I get one here.

Well, let me change that to I’ll bet I get a shot.

I’m m back at the cabin. I ended up seeing 7 does/fawns but none came closer than 60 yards.

It’s just a matter of time there.

Well, this hunting trip came to an unexpected end due to circumstances beyond my control.

I really wish I hadn’t left my gear in the tree now. First thing in the morning I’ll scramble out there, climb up, retrieve it and head out.

If the river doesn’t reach flood stage and close the WMA I will try to get back when the temperatures are better suited to winter deer hunting. This 70 degree in January/February stuff sucks.

If I don’t get the chance to come back and try again I’ve had a really good season and I look forward to switching gears and bass fishing.

I guess that post did make it sound like something is wrong but everything is fine and I worded it wrong.

We have a club meeting today and since the normal cook isn’t here yet I had to put the deer roast in the oven at 7:00 so I couldn’t get on stand before daylight.

It’s supposed to rain this afternoon and tomorrow so I’m heading home in the morning. I was going to head home after the meeting but I’ll stick around the cabin one more night.

I got to my tree at 7:30, climbed up to retrieve my gear and decided as long as I’m here I’ll sit for a couple of hours.

Incredible weather in MN finally got out and got my cams and shed hunt a bit. Haven’t checked them since November. Birds got to the lenses on 3 or 4 cams… first time it’s ever happened.

I forgot to take a picture of one of the biggest rubs I’ve found on our piece.

Pulled a camera I had out since the beginning of September. Quite a few pics. I should have checked it sooner. I will be hunting it early season next year there was all kinds of movement as the season went on this guy came through. 6F7F25AD-F135-4B2B-BAA8-62B045A74B20.jpeg

Little bastard mini woodpecker. Have video of him on one of the Brownings 3 days in a row. Makes 0 sense.

Just finished checking my cards… I have some large deer on the list for next year. I’ll post up some pics when i really go through them/save them.

Walked four miles today in some steep terrain. Unfortunately it was very unproductive. Only cool thing I found was a pond on the high ground deep in the woods. Not even on a map. I bet those bucks hammer that during the rut.
