Haven’t seen anything but I heard a buck fight to my SW. at first I thought someone was rattling and I thought what idiot is rattling at the end of January. Then all hell broke loose over there. Sure wish I could have seen it. It seems too late but I’ve seen bucks chasing does here in February before.
That's crazy to be hearing that in January. I think I would take a walk over there to see if there are any antlers laying there.
I’m back up for the afternoon sit. I went back to where I killed the doe evening before last but I went about 40 yards farther into the thicket, almost on the other side of the thickest part. I can see the trails and I have a better understanding of how they should move. Last time I walked in blind and climbed the first suitable tree.
Do you see very many other hunters at this time of year in that place? Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Not other deer hunters. Oh, there are a few but it’s a huge WMA. I see far more squirrel hunters than deer hunters now. Duck season ended yesterday and when duck season is in just about every body of water has duck hunters walking in. That probably had something to do with why I didn’t see anything afternoon before last and yesterday morning. I was in one of my better spots but it’s right on the edge of a slough and I forgot it was duck season until shots started ringing out.
I’m up for the afternoon sit. Two days ago I did some scouting and found a new location with a heavily used trail. I’m set up watching that trail but they could come from anywhere here.
I ended up seeing a group of does about 70 yards away. I was really set up in a morning spot so they were a surprise. I’m hoping they do what I expect them to do in the morning.
I ate tag soup in two different states…maybe better luck next year….hunting vs shooting is what keeps ya coming back Congratulations to those who tagged out & to the winners Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
