Johnny, How are you feeling? Are you going to get back out now that the temps are warming up and hopefully your feeling better?
Thanks for asking. Im feeling quite a bit better now. I still have a residual cough, but it’s not too bad. I’m planning on heading to our Arkansas cabin Monday morning. I would go tomorrow but I don’t care for hunting the full moon, especially late season. Also, I’d like to watch the Championship games at home before I go.
Glad to hear you're doing better. I hate hunting the full moon also. I just never have had good luck with it. Good luck to you next week.
You certainly seem to be on the ducks this year and some beauties at that! By chance are you participating in the duck DNA study (duckdna.com)?. For reference Meat eater Ep490...
We got a very big visit by 9+ turkey in the last two days I traced back prints in the snow we still have. No pics, cam was off due to cold temps draining batteries before this warm up.
I'm up for the evening. Very warm today compared to what it was last week. Almost 60 here. I'm up on a doe bedding area. Fresh track leading into it from this morning. I sat here a couple weeks ago and saw around 12 deer. So definitely deer home today. Only 2 ways for these deer to go and I'm on one of them. About 80 yards from there pine thicket. Looking for a big doe tonight. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Took my youngest out this afternoon. We scouted a new piece of public and sat on a food plot for about 30 minutes before he got bored and needed to move around. We ended up seeing three does while scouting. I was able to stalk in to about 60 yards on one before the wind swirled and she busted. My buddy killed a doe tonight so my son got to be a part of his first recovery. Between scouting and recovery, we walked almost four miles. I took the .22 to let him shoot a squirrel, but we never got the chance. Had a great time though. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Sorry for the late update. I got stuck in the tree because a deer. Then had to drive a hour and a half to go watch my daughters soccer game. About 20 minutes before dark had a doe and spike pop out. They milled around at 60 yards for a few minutes then went back into bedding. Then about 10 minutes before dark had 7 does come in. They walked back and forth in front of me at 30 yards. Over cast night didn't help and didn't feel comfortable shooting that distance in the woods, with such low light. They were on edge and skirted around me at 30. Then, about 5 minutes before dark had the 10th deer come right in to me at 20 yards. Way to dark even though still legal light. After 10 minutes I spooked her off and got down. Good sit over all. wow, an old Winchester 190 .22 semi auto .. I killed multiple of dozens of squirrels and bunnies, crows, woodchucks with mine as a kid growing up ..
Heading in for another shot at these deer. 40 degrees and rainy. See how long I can make this sit. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
It's great to see someone out there still getting after it. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
I'm up. Took a hour to get in here. The water level is really high. Had to cross 2 creeks that were flooded. One went over boots, so no have wet feet on top of weather. Only have to make it 2 hours. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I moved alot closer to bedding this time over last night. I can see in there more. Just spotted 2 deer moving around, about 75 yards in there. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
