Congrats to ya SC and everyone that has gone out in the late season. this is for everyone that kept after it with a tag still open. You have my respect to continue to chase , I believe it’s the toughest time of year. Weather and the anxiety of the deer being hunted. Not that they are not being chased by humans and other predators during the rest of the year. They are definitely on edge more I believe The motivation you must have, great job.
Congrats @Suncrest08 !!! I cant wait to get out again. Looking like its going to be even colder than expected.
Buddy called this morning and said there was a buck laying in an open field not far off a major highway. Said it looked hurt. I called my local warden and he said go ahead and dispatch it. Drove right up to it bout 40 yards. I could see he was missing an eye and was bleeding from the side of his head. I had a .22 mag with. Aimed for his forehead and shot. He reared back, took off running, made a semi circle and plowed into the door of my truck! WTF!. bounced off and took off running again. Shot him in the heart on a dead run at 40 yards and he folded. My first bullet hit him in the eye so he was blind. Felt horrible for that. He put a dent in the door and a scratch where his antlers hit. Then I realized there were 2 cars parked watching this unfold. Got him loaded up and while driving home, I drove by a sugarbeet field the deer have been feeding in. Stopped and glassed it. 150 yards out, 5 feet apart. Got him skinned and debunked. Meat is fine . What a day.
What dumb luck. Sounds like stuff that happens to me. Crazy chain of events. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
