Son and I talked at road then he went to check camp. When we drive down way early we park road side. It is a shared drive and a residences is right next to camp we drive by. Little house literally sits 10 ft off drive. They had to put their leach field on us inorder to have a legal system. A pond is just 10 ftoff their back deck. We don't want to wake them so won't drive in until after first hunt.
Anyways he looks over drive edge to see 3 buck standing where he shot his archery buck...lol. muzzle loader unloaded. 200yrds from where each of us had been sitting him up hill and me down. He did kick up several in a move and got busted by one, all doe. I heard lots of movement but nothing in eye range , save the 8 pt.
    Season end

    Thick bedding up top.
    Winter wheat in the bottom.
Adjusted my set about 50 yds North of where i was last and am closer to the corner of this field where i expect some to enter.Hard part is going to be not getting picked off especially if a bunch come in at once. IMG_6088.jpeg IMG_6085.jpeg

Lol. That pic is how I felt yesterday.
However, I drove there again just before dark this eve and seen tire tracks in the snow going out into the field. My guess (and hope) is he did get one. No other reason for someone to drive out there.
VWT, your family looks to have had a great season.

Nothing. About 5 deer were in wheat field about 400 yds to the west right at dark. 2 more weekends to get it done. Still hope yet

Season has ended for me. I don't plan to hunt any other lower states and it really isn't the year for that anyway. Time to shift focus to this other life that I have that isn't hunting whitetail.

I enjoyed this thread as usual. Love to follow along with you maniacs and see all of your seasons take shape. Best of luck to yall still grinding. My wait for October begins again.

our season ends Sunday the 7th (excluding the urban zones)... 37 yrs bowhunting, over 40yrs deer hunting (including firearms) and only in two seasons have I never taken a deer (usually killed multiples of deer ), one of those no kill seasons was during the '20/21 season/covid bs and now this season .... I passed Does waiting on a decent buck, passed dink bucks waiting on a decent Doe ... was at full draw on two decent bucks, no shot opportunity ever came on either... and when I wanted a good Doe, that never came either .... this is hunting pressured state/public lands ... Ive had fun, worked my ass off packing in/out every hunt for 19 different hunts, weather sucked (warm/heavy rain) for my two 9 day vacations but I still had some good chasing, never could get into my better locations as the weather/winds never matched the time off to do so .. ... that is why its called hunting... still deciding if I'll try Fri/Sat. for a few more sits.... I'll decide Thurs, it all depends on weather/wind and if I have it in me for the final sit...

I’m set up in the National Forest.

I put three cameras out three days ago in spots I know are good. I checked them when I got here and there wasn’t a single pic on them, which kind of dampened my expectations, but I know they’re here.

Hopefully I’ll see movement and adjust to kill tomorrow.

Well, well ,well. God gave me a sense of humor when giving me an April 1st birthday.
Ya all know how my season went, or didn't.
Today was close all blind windows and give A. J. a much needed run day. This took us everywhere on half the property. What did we find?
Beds and beds and beds all melted to leaves . We have a layer of snow, it snowed last night and this morning. It started out with single buck beds scattered here and there and infront of old reliable then ended with 8 beds right next to the tree plots raised blind.
14 beds in all and everyone fresh. Some mighty big tracks around as well...So apparently I actually do have deer imagine that!!!!
    LOL
