Fantastic "vital-V" shot, at 35 yards no less! Congrats on another one LC! But what's up with the lack of the infamous "arrow launched" on that one?!
Wind direction will be hard out of the west for the rest of the week. I've set a new stand location at the back edge of my property (maybe 3 yds on, facing my land). Adjacent landowner has a stand 45-50 yards onto his lot... facing my land. This may get interesting... My view. Cedars on either side, not much for back cover unfortunately. I know the deer have a path beaten down 35 yds out near the green bushy trees...way out near the overgrown meadow.
Sorry about that. I thought I posted on here that I was using my TC Encore but I posted it in my team chat. It’s “alternative weapons season” here in Missouri so I took my muzzleloader. Somehow “bullet launched” just didn’t seem like a good thing to post. When I field dressed her the heart was gone. I got her home and hung her up. When I rinsed her out this washed out of the cavity. It’s all that was left of the heart that was recognizable. My layers are in the wash and I’m going back to the same spot with my bow this afternoon.
Went out this a.m. rain was just misting until after 12. one hawk, two crow and not one other animal seen nor heard. Old reliable wasn't so today. Rain and dark so I'm back home.. not one animal ,save A. J. on cam. Lots of ML shots and many guys target shooting.
I’m all set up for the afternoon. I moved 100 yards south of where I was yesterday. I killed a doe sitting in this tree in November and doubled out of it last season. We’ll see if anything shows up. To be totally honest I wish those young ones from yesterday would walk by. I’d love to have some small quarters in the freezer for roasts.
I’m highly motivated, rain kept me sidelined today. I will be out Friday and Sat. Then I’m off all next week, gonna do some steelhead fishing and hoping for a couple deer.
Ha! I forgot all about still having an archery buck tag here in Missouri. No chance of that though. I have never laid eyes on a buck during daylight here in the National Forest after gun season.
So close. A single doe (probably the fawn) came from where I was yesterday and walked by me at 50 yards. Just out of range for me. I should have gone back to where I was.
Before I left, I watched my neighbor dump 3 bags of corn about 50 yds down wind of my stand...on his land. Either he had no idea I was there or he's planning on trying to taunt me...
I’m set up for the morning. There was no rain in the forecast but it’s misting. Sure hope it doesn’t amount to much. Getting wet when the temps are around freezing isn’t a good idea. I still have 40 minutes until first light. I don’t expect much as this is a good evening spot but not a good morning spot.
The forecasters have been less than stellar this week. Good Luck!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Am I the only one out this morning? The rain didn’t amount to much. Outer layer is a bit damp but my wool layers are warm. Haven’t seen anything but squirrels so far. I’m not surprised. The only deer I remember seeing in the morning here was the doe I killed here November 3rd.
Getting fueled up to take on the cold and a kayak ride. Hoping to see a big boy tonight on the peninsula. Hope the darn water isn't frozen again! Will be about 32 all afternoon. Cold enough to get them moving.
I've been in the tree since 6am...just didn't pick up the phone till a bit ago. Neighbor isn't in his stand and deer aren't at his corn...course they ain't in front of me either. Some turkeys roosted nearby last night and have been making all kinds of ruckus this morning. Other than the usual squirrels, nothing else to report... OAO
