hey @MIHOYT89 , first off, congrats on getting it done at the last minute. Second, what caliber is that Ruger? Thinking about picking one up. How do you like the gun itself? Bolt smooth? I have heard their trigger is good. .350L or a .450B are legal in IL, MI (southern) and IN. I hunt in all 3 now so am looking to pickup a straight wall cartridge bolt gun. I have shot a .450Bs on a AR platform and liked it, but reading the .350L stuff, that might be a better overall choice for a dedicated deer rifle. Esp in a bolt gun in IL
Tried to update yesterday but my phone was inoperable. I almost drop kicked it as hard as i could. Went in to try to get eyes on and better yet an arrow in this guy. Me and 2 buddies triangulated a big chunk of ground he has been frequenting. Its just too hard to get in clean. Which is probably why he looks like he does . That N wind was cold yesterday and ill say the zone 7 suit from Code of Silence was like wearing a camp fire. Very impressed so far. Any how i came down with fever today and called into work. Buck fever is still technically a fever! Maybe some fresh air in the great outdoors will make me feel better . Back at the private by the house this am with a wind that just switched to SSE. These 2 are on the hit list at this spot Both have made it through gun season but are becoming ghosts. To the mystery mobile! Lets go!
All set up with an hour to wait before first light. It’s 27 degrees, frosty and still. If it weren’t for the I-40 road noise it would be perfect.
It’s a 350 legend, and definitely does the job. I mainly bought it for late doe season cleanup but decided to take it out last night for the last evening of late hun season. The furthest shot I’ve had on a deer is about 140yds but I wouldn’t be scared to stretch it out to 200-250 under the right circumstances. I’ve got no complaints at all with the round. The gun is pretty compact and light so it’s easy to tote around. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It’s the Ruger 350 legend vortex package ranch rifle, I believe it’s the 22” barrel Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Way to go Mitch! Heck of a buck on the last day of gun, previously called muzzleloader, season. I'm on doe patrol much of the remainder of the season. I'll get out a few times with my bow in order to have the chance at a buck.
