I need to keep seeking out better places to hunt. My avg buck hunt from around Oct 25th to mid November hasn't been good for two seasons now. Heck my avg hunt in general hasnt been real hot. Many areas just completely void of sign. Places people don't even hunt very much. I'm scheming and map scouting today.

Atleast it’s just 1 day! Here in PA deer is closed until the day after Christmas

Hence the reason you hunt in Maryland. I'm definitely spoiled with there long season.

that sounds like much of our F&W/state areas after 2 weeks of gun and now 2 weeks of ML season .... the places have been tromped and shot out... the remaining deer are now nocturnal and stay bedded in as thick cover as they can find until dark ... tough to hunt this time of year .... I'll keep at it weather conditions allowing till end of season (Jan. 7th), except the urban/deer reduction zones, which I no longer hunt in, they go to the end of Jan. .... over 109,000 deer now killed and checked in ... who knows how many poached and road kills to add to that number

I'm inspired to scout today. I have a feeling about a place that I have not scouted hard yet. I looked at the map and I think I completely missed over a section of this slough area. I could see a giant buck bedded up on this section and crossing the water heading to the fields at night.

Well that two mile walk wasn't very productive. Off to the next spot.

Is it Missouri or Iowa that you’re hunting now?

Moved to a different farm for the afternoon. Hoping the action picks up.

Yes sir! It’s a no brainer to make the hour drive, most of my local spots are 20-30 minutes anyway, rather drive longer and get down there

I made the drive to Arkansas this morning and I’m set up in a spot I hope will be good for a doe. I’ve seen considerable doe traffic move through here the past couple of years so here’s hoping they walk by.

Had a great buck cruise by at around 80 yards about 45 minutes ago.

Just had a small buck chasing two does to my east a few minutes ago.

I’m down. Nothing else showed up after the buck chased the does.

I’ll be back in the same tree tomorrow morning.

Nope. I’m on doe patrol here in Arkansas. A booner could walk by and I would have to be content with shooting phone video.

That’s not gonna happen here though.

The buck I saw was a big one though. I say big: He might have scored 140 with Boonerville’s tape.

    He was probably 125” - 130”.
