Super slow this morning. It’s pretty windy and EHD hit this area pretty bad. Not sure what to expect with that.
I’ve gotten a little rest the past couple of days since I killed the little shed buck Tuesday evening. Now it’s time to get back after it. I’m washing my gear and packing up to head back to Wattensaw WMA in Arkansas tomorrow morning to see if I can kill one or two of those wiley does there. A lot of you know I hunt a lot, I hunt hard and I do it for almost six months straight. I have to say that I’m finding it harder and harder to keep that pace up as I get older. At some point in the not too distant future I’m going to have to dial it back a notch or two.
You know it's okay if you don't hunt seven days a week and twice a day right? Maybe just drop that down to hunting six days a week.
I'm soon to hit 66 ... still packing in all my gear, sometimes 40lbs+ on my back, stand/sticks/heavy fanny pack/winter clothes, sometimes over a mile, yesterday was .95 mile in ..... I do feel it ... .. Ive dropped bow poundage slowly thru the years also so I dont have to go to the darkside (now 57 lbs) and so I can continue to shoot a vertical bow .... I feel it ... I keep ibuprofen with me along with my piss pills (flowmax) .... I'll continue to do my distance runs as long as I can till my body says stop .. same for hunting and doing what I do now .. its getting tougher for sure .. its easy to find excuses not wanting to go out, I try to fight those urges, the Jar Head in me says never quit, dont stop, but realization is setting in, there will be a time I wont be able to do what I do ..... but not today ... :0)
Didn’t see a thing this morning, fog was really dense up on the hill, when I got town to the bottom of the hill it was pretty clear, should have set up lower this morning
Heading out in about a hour. Going to a bowhunt only area for the evening. Never hunted this place and going in blind, let's have some fun! Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
If anyone besides me is hunting Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, all three days are good candidates for all day sits, especially Tuesday. I don’t believe I could pull off three all day sits in a row, but I definitely plan on sitting all day Tuesday.
I will probably have time Wednesday - Friday this week. Will probably be doing a hunt or 2 Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Pretty much. The cold front is moving through today and tomorrow in Arkansas. The low there is going to drop to 28 Sunday night. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be cold. Well, cold for Arkansas. The peak of the new moon is Tuesday. That’s enough for me to eye all day sits. I can’t speak for other areas, but where I hunt in Arkansas the secondary doe estrus should be right about then.
Almost 60 degrees here the day before the end of firearms season. This morning nothing was moving where I was at. Don’t want to get to my spot too early this evening but on the other hand I don’t have anything else to do. Packing up. Good luck this evening.
I'm up. Not sure about this property all together. So much traffic, not my kind of hunting. The deer are use to it though. Walked about a mile in and couldn't find any sign. Then ran into some hikers. Ended up heading up back to my truck and jumped into a finger of woods right near parking lot. Some rubs in here. Fresh doe tracks thru here from today. Best I can do with zero scouting. Luck all good hunt evening this! Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
