Tomorrow is last day of rifle season. Should I sneak into a bowhunting area and try hunting some place I've never been before, maybe. Just want to be in the woods. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
That is the exact ones I was thinking. I think they'd work well on a deer. I volunteer you to confirm for us.
The clouds just moved in and the wind is picking up. Gives me a chance to get in and get after some of those bucks in the hellhole. Headed in.
Deer is done, I'm exhausted. Took a Gator ride to get rid of scraps and toured some of property before snow melt...hhhmmmmm Way more movement on our place than I thought. Also in areas I haven't hunted. Will tomorrow morning for a doe. Tracks show multiple deer. Many many single tracks all over. Mind you we've only had this snow two days. I have 2 more days of gun and Monday starts late bow again so I can buck hunt with that unfilled tag. Break down list: Some of shoulder meat lost both at top. I'd rather lose a bit of shoulder meat than risk any sort of tracking off property. Each ham weighed 15#'s and the loin, shoulders, back strap just neck meat came in at 93/4#'s. The ribs 8#'s. I saved heart to pickle, liver for chickens , the neck bone and the spine went to the chickens as well. Before it's said,No!, liver is the bodies filter. It filters out bad stuff and I will not eat liver. That said the chickens can filter liver and give me nutritious eggs that I love. Win, win. Very little waste for all bones will go for bone broth to make onion and venison soup. The ones I do not use the chickens will clean up. I won't pay $30 a bag to buy bugs for protein, they are loving the deer meat protein that's free. Well relatively speaking..oh boy "man hours"...Lol Ooppss correction 9 3/4# was just loins back strap...forgot to weight the shoulders and neck..lol
Back on stand. I saw a doe on the way in but she didn’t blow. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Liver tastes like **** anyway, zero grief from me about not eating it! I leave them for the coyotes in the gut pile, always have, unless some weirdo friend that actually thinks it tastes good asks me to keep them one. In case it isn't clear...I don't like liver.
This place continues to have good buck sign but the spots I've been hunting around are too easy to access. Massive increase in cell cams out here. I need to put in a better effort to get away from people out here. I bet the bucks are.... I pushed back into the timber.
20 minutes before last light and I have 4 wheeler ride by at 100 yards Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Finished off the year with a doe......No bucks for me this season but managed 7 total does with all weapons so no complaints
All the milk, onions and bacon in the world can't make it taste good to me...OMG ...mom did try! Then add knowledge of it's function eeewwww Chickens went wild over it. Went to close them up...bones picked clean...
