Putting this here because it is acre area loaded withe food from ow through end of season. Pulled card on mulberry haven't looked yet. Here are pics mulberries will look like this early all sum 20230630_111721.jpg 20230630_111642.jpg 20230630_111513.jpg 20230630_111501.jpg 20230630_111446.jpg mer, all but 2 apples look like pic and those are also pretty good. 3 of the 6 chestnut are old enough to produce and loaded with blossoms and as you can see the plums are getting bigger. BTW they love plum leaves.
I have4 stands and 4 ground blinds to cover all aspects of movement or wind.

Get the shotgun out when dove comes in they will pound that millet. Don’t know about the deer with it tho, should be a nice addition to the prop tho.

    Regarding the soybean question
I always thought beans were good until they turned yellow & then again in the winter when the pods are lying on the ground

I’m no expert, but based on my observations deer will feed on soybeans even when the leaves are yellow, but that’s when acorns start to drop (at least in this area) and like I said before, I’m convinced that deer prefer acorns to soybeans.

I’ve never run feeders much at all, but my brother has and we always saw a huge drop in feeder traffic when the acorns started dropping.

I agree about the acorns. Sooooo if you have an oak lot bordering the beans, you're in the money.

When scouting for early season in woods other than the normal food/browse, fruits, berries what do you guys look for in food attraction?

Any kind of hardwood regeneration will draw does like a magnet. Bucks too, but usually at or after dark, unless he's bedded close. We have so much green to munch on early season the bucks don't really move that much unless there's a food plot or ag draw. We don't have much ag where I hunt now

Hey y’all it’s getting closer. I am so ready. Got some good 4 yr olds on camera in Kansas. My farm in Louisiana has some scrubs thus far but time will tell.

Certain acorns...not the red oak though. They'll eat those if they have to...

    Variety for food.

A combo with these close is clutch: Food, water, cover...edges like hardwood/conifer or field/woods.

I have to disagree on the red acorns. This area we are in is all red, black oaks. No whites this is their only acorn source and they get hammered.. This said would they go to a preferred white if available of course. It's similar to deer don't eat or like buck thorn. Well at camp where it took over an entire valley the proof is in the purple poop.
I look to the beech drop which starts early here but even over that, iron wood hops. I've watched buck and doe standing up on back legs for long periods of time just to eat them. I look to the blk locust for pod drop. Poison ivy berries and wild rose. They eat the berries and
New growth. Elderberry and poke berry as I've mentioned often.
I also look for turkey activity they eat together alot. Where there is one usually the other is close by.

Happy Summer everyone. Can't wait for September to get here. Actually in NJ now to check cams and put up a stand . I have one cell cam in NJ and it's been all Doe and fawns. VT is the same. The clover plots have been doing great for Spring/Summer feed. I'll mow them and then till them under sometime in the next 2 weeks and then get the turnip, kale, etc started for Fall. Lots of apples this year. Should be a great season.

Son was given a nice cooler but for some odd reason decided he needed to spray the outside. How I know is gifter happened to, let's just say commented to us about it. Apparently an expensive cooler...lol
Anywho, he used blk. Bedliner spray. I wonder if that would protect your foam cover. That is if it won't deteriate the foam
    Just a thought.
