that looks like a button buck, not shed .. awfully small even for a 1.5 yr old antlered buck that shed ..... if the pedicles had hair over them, its a button... if the pedicle area was/is open, then yes it had shed ... awfully early to shed for that young of a buck ... anyways, congrats ....

Thanks! It was definitely a shed buck. I was a little worried someone would think I kicked the antlers off, but the pedicles are totally dry. He’s been shed for a little bit.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

I am still confused on a couple of things, like why the impact sounded more like a gut hit than rib impact. I definitely hit ribs.

He was quartering to me just a bit more than I thought but not much.

He broadhead got the on-side lung, liver and hit gut on the exit.

    I was sure I didn’t see antlers.

Anyway, here are a few pics: I’ve already posted the entry wound but I’ll post it again along with the exit and another pic of me and Elly May.

    Entry wound:

Well, break time is over. I have a job to now.

That deer definitely isn’t the best smelling deer I’ve had to deal with, but it’s not the worst either.

Congrats! May have shed from stress Too many buck ...too much sparring . That or just a horny little guy chasing way too much.

Pulled cam where I've been sitting...young buck out an hour before close, as I sat seeing nothing on other side of property. Then a little bigger 8 at midnight and a spike at Opening this morning..
Soaking in tub and headed out at 2pm to blind there. It's been snowing all morning.

Don’t be surprised if you see something gangrenous when you skin him. I shot a buck like that that was walking around with an injury and couldn’t eat him. His whole shoulder was full of gangrene

Especially this far south. I was pretty surprised.

I noticed that another shed buck was posted on the scorecard today. Maybe it’s the start of something unusual.
