I can't tell if it's blood or just the color of the leaves

I zoomed in on this one and saw the hair for the first time. Could someone zoom in on the bottom left of this pic (area left of the arrow) and tell me what that looks like?

Every minute you sit you are another minute closer to your next deer. Says an old man sitting in a chair:biggrin:

Definite blood about the size of a quarter just a little to the right of the shadow of your phone. I am in agreement on the wait, 6-8 hours minimum, overnight if you don’t feel like a midnight track job.

I'm only asking for opinions because I'm unsure and I'm wondering what I hit. Regardless of what the opinions are, I'll be waiting until around 8:30 am to take Elly May out there to track. It's 44 degrees on its way down to a low of 30 degrees so there's no rush at all. Since I don't have to be in a hurry I don't want to stomp the cut-over all up first thing in the morning.

All of my gear is still in the tree so I'll get up in the morning, get back in the same tree and sit until 8:00 or 8:30. While I'm there I'll be watching for vultures and listening for coyotes. If she's lying dead within a few hundred yards the vultures will probably clue me in to where she is.

So far this year I haven't hit a deer that I haven't recovered. I'm sure hoping this isn't the first.

Looks like tiny droplets of dark liver blood, but hard to tell.

I would wait until morning. Looks like liver/gut to me. You should taste it to be sure though……

I'm definitely waiting overnight, as I said in the post I was typing when you posted that.

Like I said, there is no hurry at all and we don't have many yotes here.

I wish I had a better pic of the arrow in good light. I don't know what color gut is, but I know what gut looks like and that arrow is covered in a mix of thick dark blood and gut.

I would definitely wait until morning. Not enough blood anywhere to tell me it's dead already.

I licked the arrow. It tasted bloody with a touch of white oak acorn.

Good luck on the track in the morning, she should be dead.

One thing that's bugging me is that I've made my fair share of gut shots and every other gut shot I've made (with the exception of a gut shot where the arrow went through a hind quarter after the gut) had grit of some kind on it. There is no grit that I can see in any of these pics.

Oh well, at this point I wouldn't care if it was a pure liver shot. I'd still be waiting until tomorrow morning. The only downside to that is my wife has to leave at 7:45 for a physical therapy appointment in Paragould, AR and won't be back until around noon, so it will just be me and Elly May the Wonder Beagle.

    Should be a good time.

It's like the joke about the kid and his friend that saw a turd...looks like a turd.
    'Are ya sure? smell it'...
    smells like a turd.
    'Taste it'...
    tastes like a turd.

'Aren't us glad you didn't step in it?'
