I wish it would snow a little here.

I’m back up in a tree. I ended up moving 50 yards south onto the neighbors property. They gave me permission to hunt it a few years ago but I never really checked it out because everything I could see was super thick. The timber was harvested quite a few years ago and I thought it wasn’t huntable. I was wrong.

This is north of where I’m sitting now:

50-70 yards away I would almost never be able to see a deer walking here. They’re traveling this gulley edge when they move up this finger:

From here I can see some good looking territory on the next finger as well.

Im going to have to dedicate some time to this 14 acres.

Oh, and I’m fully aware that if I kill one I’ll be dragging it out of that gulley. I always expect the worst so I’m never surprised when it happens.

Time for the December wolves to reawaken and try to kill.

Didn’t see anything but I can’t help feeling that it’s just a matter of time there.

I should have known that they wouldn’t do the same thing two afternoons in a row.

I’ll be in the same tree tomorrow morning but I have never seen a deer during a morning sit in that area. It only takes once though.

Consider this wolf awake and ready!!

Stars are aligning… thought I had 1.5 vacation days to use before 12/22 or I lose them. Was planning on getting two evening hunts out of that. Checked my accrued vacation today and turns out it’s 3.25 vacation days left! 2.25 of those will be used for hunting. Going to be in a tree in the morning in Maryland, on the 2nd I had 3 bucks come through right at first light. And then in the middle of the night last night I get this guy… here’s to hoping for some morning action tomorrow!!

Got an older 73 buddy that has a muzzlegun tag.
He's a comfort type hunter (heated shack) type.
He's been sitting alot and ain't seeing squat. Been biting my tongue but today I finally said quit sitting there. It's in a good spot when crops are up but once it's turned over the deer have ZERO reason to go that way.
There is an old fallen down shed way back in the woods that has thick brush/ browse I suggested he sit in. He agreed and spur of the moment I said I'd sit with him.
I had to point out deer he couldn't see.
Just the way some does were acting, I had a feeling there was an older buck back there.
Even 3 small bucks were acting weird.
45 minutes before dark, I could make out a decent rack bout 70 yards back in some real thick brush.
He had a hard time seeing it but finally did.
The buck slowly made its way up from the riverbottom and gave a 60 yard broadside.
He made a good shot, buck ran 50 yards n cartwheels.
Fun looking over his shoulder watching it all.
    Decent 4x5 bout 125".
He was Purdy fevered up. Lol.
    Fun times.

All set up and ready to kill!! In a new tree this morning close to where I killed my doe, last time I was here 9 of the 11 deer I saw went within 20 yards of this tree. Been set up for a little while and have about 20 minutes till light. Good luck if anyone else is out!

Good luck. I've had some first light movement since our snow two days ago.

Got in fairly quiet. Walked over what looked to be fresh beds but it was tough to tell for certain with the green light. Wind is back and forth right now. Giving it a couple hours before work.

I left two cams out near bedding areas last year. About this time last year through Christmas I was surprised at the buck movement. 25% of the pics were daylight movement. Usually 3 to 4 hrs after sunup and 1 hr before sundown.
