I crawled in about 45 minutes ago and have a spike bedded at 100 and two buttons just walked by to field. Starting off good. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I’m sitting close to property line of another piece of private land that no one goes onto. It’s steep and nasty but the deer love it. I’m sure with all the pressure there are a bunch of deer in there. I’m on piece with crops they go to. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Just got set up on my place. I have no idea what to expect but like I said before, given my history with this area after gun season I don’t expect much. It certainly is a nice afternoon though. …….and a neighbor down the road just started hammering. Sounds like he’s driving nails. Oh well, so much for a quiet sit.
I’ve seen 5 does and 7 fawns so far but no sign of a buck yet. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well, I saw exactly what I expected to see: Nothing. It wasn’t surprising, especially with the neighbor to the north hammering and the neighbor’s wife to the south yelling at her dogs. I’m sure I’ll be able to score at least one more doe over there but I think it needs more time after gun season to calm down. I heard way too many rifle shots this evening too.
Thanks! There is no one I'd rather spend a day in the woods then him. 81 years old and still goes hard.
hey how is your platow holding up? I had 2 buckles break and looks like some of the seams are starting to fail. Liked the concept but not rugged enough. I may give this one a try from cruzr.
Haha I just got that pack back in October! I haven't fully started using yet, mostly because it's mid season and didn't want to start a new system. I ditched the front pouch and sew some more straps on it to quick attach my stand. Think this pack will be the closest I have found with everything I want in a pack. It's bigger then it looks in pics. I like how flat it is, keeps it close to your back. My platow is holding up as good as I would expect. Got some rubbing from my stand, that has made a couple very small holes. But other than that it's good. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
As ash said rain, fog, warm. Good day to iron. Pulled card on way home yesterday.7 buck in upper plot as I walked down hill. ALL spikes and 4-5pts. Sparing and eating. Haven't seen a mature buck on cam in a long while. Good thing I canned deer meat and venison stew last year. Had stew last night.
Out with gun again. Yesterday was a bust. So was watching my Hawks get rolled by Michigan. May have drank more than I wanted. Getting up this am was a little rough. Time to shoot a giant deer. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Ha! Great minds think alike! That cruzr pack looks good matter of fact i like a lot of what they have. My buddy their platform and a few other things. Im really hard on my stuff. The platow is nice just not quite the perfect pack for me.
I was in the same boat with it. Just too many pockets and dividers for me. It was close, just not exactly what works best. I really should just make my own, but I don't have that kind of time. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Took my oldest out for his first bowhunt last night. Stayed off the phone so we could enjoy the moment. We sat on the edge of a small food plot on public. About 4:45 we heard grunting and something walking out of a thicket about 70 yards away.I did a little grunting and bleating. Turned out to be a spike that circled and came in from the far side of the plot. He got to about 45 yards and was coming in when the wind swirled just enough that he got nervous and bolted. That was all we saw.
