Not a bad scout. Walked the perimeter and found where others are hunting. Mostly gun pressure. Found some beds and also a cell cam and some type of bait. Looks like I can stay about 300 yds from most of the pressure and that sets up best for a North wind anyways. Will know more next summer. I can also use that peninsula to access a 100 acre island. Easy 60 yd trip. That's the next scout.

Young 5 point with a busted front leg just came in to 28 yards and I was going to use up my buck tag on him but got down wind and exited from the way he came

I’m out, 2 fawns at sunset and that’s it. Good to see them moving before dark again.

Sota. Don't know why but squirrels here seldom chew antlers here.
I've found 100s of sheds and very few have been chewed.
BHH, over n over on that and have decided i'm not gonna get another.
Went into a 3 week mental tailspin with Roscoe. Don't wanna do it again.
Mod It. Heck, I don't even lock my cabin. Sometimes I don't get here for months.
Can't see it from any road. Few know it's back here. Got several great local friends that are out n about plus a couple county deputy friends.
I'm a trustworthy fella. Purdy good folks around here.

    Thanks TDK, JONDEER,.
OND, 33acres. But what makes it really great is I'm surrounded by landowners that basically allow no hunting. ( bout 500 acres worth). And it river bottom.

Very blessed in that regard. Unique situation for sure!

I really dont WANT to shoot a doe here even though there are lots of them.
i very much enjoy watching them and how the herd dynamics play out.
so tomarro, my old buddy wants to make a few drives for me. Got many miles of riverbottoms to do it on so i think we'lldo that. Been several years since ive shot a deer on a drive. SO much fun!

VS, all that work is gonna pay off.

Wish you all the best for the rest of "23".

    Small follow up.
I just called 2 landowners. They both have about 1 mile of riverbottom.
One is a guy I've never met and the other , very little.
    Asked permission to hunt.
Both said, absolutely, good luck. Lol.

It just seams almost surreal to me how so many struggle to even find a small private piece to hunt.
My 81 year old buddy is almost giddy to hit some bush and do some walking.
