Yea I have passed on her a few times this year already. Was hoping to lure more bucks into the area. Only really had 2 shooters come in during the rut but have been gone for a couple weeks now it seems. Maybe they will come back when these young ones go into heat

Typical 0317. Let's all be like 0317.. Yep that sounds like fun.

If it's red and smells like a sore it's probably puss filled.

Nuff said ... well maybe not.

Go get a covid shot and do us all a favor.

Well a first for me. Had 2 deer at 50 yds, with the rifle, opted not to shoot...literally 2 minutes into 'legal shooting' time...I couldn't see the crosshairs...

Woe now, you know I use a crossbow so ...
Go ahead, you address ME and say I'm f ing lazy .I just dare you!. I have and will again drop my poundage. That said I will also be requesting a Dr. Note to use crossbow the entire season. There is NOT one danm lazy thing about that. I still get up and go out just like you, I still work to find deer, I still choose to shoot or not and I still work for what ever animal I shoot.
You judge your self on whether YOUR lazy or not,do not ever assume you could judge me on that, nuff said.

This upbeat thread took an ugly turn.
0317 has been a negative insect since he joined.

Calling for a small amount of snow and high winds tonite/ tomorrow.
What is normally a great week for buck movement is quite lack luster this year.
Opener of muzzelgun today. Did not see one person out or one shot.
Sad when I think about the future years of hunting in general.

    Tink, you kill another one?

Hunt however you like and be happy you are alive and able to breathe in the fall air.

I left work and hit the archery range. Two young 20 yr Olds showed up with crossbows and we had a great conversation and a lot of laughter. I'm happy they are hunting.

I primarily use a compound with a 60lb draw weight. I prefer it in a tree.

But on the ground, especially without a blind, I will always use a crossbow with a tripod.

A few years ago I had a significant shoulder injury and could not draw my compound, so I used the crossbow for all archery hunting.

I've never used a recurve or long bow. Does this mean that I'm not an archer?

Hunt how it makes you happy. Getting out there on the hunt and appreciating Gods creation is what's important.

Just found a few minutes to half way catch up. Congrats to the killers. I had an eventful day to say the least. Morning i was covered up with deer. Had over 20 work past me. Wind was swirling badly and almost got busted a few times but never did. Decided to pull an all dayer since i was seeing so much action. After a long stealthy move into a place we have been kinda saving for late season. We have been getting the most and the best pics there. Eased my way into a real good tree. Felt like a killer spot. Nothing else moved for awhile except a button buck bedded 40 yds away. In the last hour of light all hell broke loose. A very sneaky B of a doe worked her way around me. I wasnt wanting to shoot a doe today i was going big or going home. But she was persistent. Knew something wasnt right. I didnt want her to blow out the whole draw i was sitting in so i came to full draw. If she pegged me i was going to let her have it. It started to get personal . At one point she was sniffing my ground scent 10 yds from my tree. I could have killed her 20 times. She finally worked away right as my shoulder gave out and had to let down. Had to be a good 5 min while i was twisted backwards. It was horrible. Anyway the field started filling up with does right before last light. Thats when the coyotes broke loose. First one then 2 then 4 other ones all in different directions. They were close. And getting closer. The deer were getting super nervous. It started to be clear that the coyotes knew where the deer were and were working together. They had them surrounded and in guessing they were maybe 50 yds in any direction. The way they communicated was unreal. One of them was running up and down the draw another was pa ing back and forth in the field and the others were closing in from the flanks. It was so freaking cool. The deer did not know what way to run or what to do. So they froze. I mean last light came and went and they stood there like statues for an hour. I didnt want to blow the spot up. They already were stressed out so didnt want to throw human into the equation probably would have blown the spot out for awhile. All the sudden the deer made their move. As everything finally fizzled out i was tearing my set down when i see 2 bucks coming straight for me. I had to freeze again for 20 or more minutes hugging the side of the tree. Still think i made it out pretty clean. But im sure sore and tired. Taking tomorrow off to recoupe before work week. Will hit it again next weekend. Man those coyotes sure are wild!

I did not kill another, unfortunately. I forgot to turn off the lighted nock, and the weird red light in the tree spooked a forky and a doe that I probably would have shot. Oh well. The one I killed is strung up in the garage and skinned. The butcher process will start tomorrow. It's been a long day.
