Glad to see you getting back out. Good for your grumpy Ole a$$ to get some stress free down time! The bonus is the possibility of some sweet venison.
Turned it down as low as it can go at the bow shop, I need to put the work in to get stronger, very frustrating. I used to draw that bow sitting down at full draw weight.
The consensus here at camp is that it’s a dead deer. Most of them wanted to take up the track a while ago but I insisted that we don’t leave camp until four hours after the shot. By the time we get there it’ll be close to five hours after the shot. We should be leaving in about an hour.
I turned down hunting tomorrow to have the boys at the lake, I know 10 ply soft but the 4 year old wants to help grandma put up the tree, somebody has to watch the 2 year old he will either eat it or wreck it.
Good luck LC. the way you described the shot/ reaction, smart move. However, I Would NOT BRING in dogs first. Id track it first and then bring in the dogs if needed. Sounds like a liver hit to me. SotaPop, damn man..., man up. Do what you need to do. New bow/ lower poundage. Ain't no shame,. Zero sense being out there with low confidence at the moment you need it. (This goes for ANYBODY) I consider myself a hell of a rifle shot...., until i get into a hard kicker category. I now seldom shoot anything bigger then a .243. I know my limitations. Iffn you need to drop down in poundage, do it!. Just be damn glad you're able to enjoy hunting again.
Sota, getting older is why I just ordered new limbs for the SR350... I can draw in cold, but it takes to much effort now ... 60lb new limbs set at 57lbs (55lbs if need be) more than enough for any deer using COC heads .... goodbye Grim Reapers ...... I'll put the new limbs on next week, may not have time to hunt with it this season... that is why I have the Ritual, as a back up ... getting older sucks in oh so many ways and for sure not for the faint of heart ...
