He was absolutely running… I am going to map it, but I thinks he went 200 yards…. Absolutely crazy. I was on the blood trail less than 5 minutes after I shot… climbed right down and started on the trail. I’ve killed well over 100 deer in my life and I have never seen such a crazy blood trail for so long.

The video doesn’t even show it like it was in person…it was crazy

Wow, that's a slammer. I take it that was on property that you don't have permission to hunt??

Ok my dudes, all set up in a pine thicket overlooking a swamp. I'm very near the scrapes where I've gotten multiple big bucks. I'm on the ground hoping for a cruiser in here this morning. A bit unconventional for me but desperate times call for desperate measures. Good luck everyone

Correct Dmax. Those kind of deer are around here close to home, but hunting permission is pretty hard to come by. Most people around me hunt, have family that hunts or doesn't allow hunting. This is on a place that is in that does not allow category.

Good luck all that are out. I had a pleasant surprise when i woke this AM. Another solid looking buck cruising through. The big boys are all in cruise mode looking for stragglers. Problem is they tend to be mostly nocturnal. Still killable though if they slip up. Plan to make it out this weekend some time. Last day of work today then 4 off. Next weekend is illinois 2nd gun season. There is a young lady that gun hunts a neighboring property and kills a monster about every year. Usually 2nd gun season. I hope she leaves me a nice one to chase late season lol. IMG_5622.jpeg

Neighbor also sent me this one of my #1 on his place

Good luck all! Work for the next four days. Thousands of customers happy to be off work and shopping for hunting gear won't put me into a jealous mood. Or will it?

Slight possibility I'll hunt this evening. The stars have to align, but I need to get back to tree stand therapy and blood trailing. I'll try to make the blood trails short this time.

Not out today. The whole sitting thing , then walking on concrete yesterday got me. Still raining and cold no wind. Maybe tonight? Good day to clean we have new gutters and furnace going in this next week.

    Hey another side note.
For those of you that may have experienced a ...less than moist turkey. We have a couple in family member that have trouble.
FROZEN BIRDS. you buy a certain weight then defrost. No one ever weighs the bird after the defrost and they may go by weight in Cook time.
I defrosted a 12.38 # frozen store turkey. Decided to weigh it after rinse and dry. It weighed 10 #'s just something to consider. Yes I know most of us use a thermometer. Some go by those pop up things, risky, lol. Me, I'll be raising mine from now on, no more water injected frozen.
    Just interesting info
    HAPPY THANKSGIVING
P.S. that was last week to make room for the 29# one I butchered

This Saturday is Maryland rifle starts. Which means I get a 3rd buck tag! Between rifle and muzzleloader, I got about a month + to use my last tag. Wife says we are good on meat for the year, but I just can't stop hunting! Think it's been 11 years since I punched all 3 buck tags in one season.
