Delayed message from this past Sunday night at 4:45… Sabot launched Boom goes the dynamite! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I just want a shot is all. Never thought I would say this but honestly every deer with a bow is a trophy.
I just hope to keep my hunts down per deer to my career average. Probably will never beat the 138" buck I shot after watching him for 10 minutes an hour and a half into my first sit of the year.Damn I sound like an old man talking about what I used to be.
I'm out. Saw a fork and a spike. They came out down wind and lingered trying figure out which way to run. Was checking them out with scope, but watched them trot off. saw this fella 1/2 mile from the house on the way hunting.
I sat in some dog $hit weather for 3 hrs tonight at 4:26 I had a guy ride up to me on a 4 wheeler to about 40yds until he noticed me. Needless to say with about half hour of daylight left nothing came out.
I walked perimeter then went home for coffee. Just settled in as AJ started barking . A neighbor 1/2 mile away is knocking on door. Took a shot on doe from his neighbor that borders us. Wants permission to search. He told me where she entered which is right at my stand inswamp. So I told him easiest way to enter and to go home and grab some clippers. He can clip but not go wild. The wild rose is Gawd awful in there . Which is what I want. We talked a while and I mentioned hunter next door shooting. He metion wanting to go meet him. I said if you do please text me on what he's gotten. Well he feels he missed her and told me hunter had a 5pt hanging . Good one buck tag out of picture. Weather just got worse and worse ,still is bad so got errands done.
testing… blood trail from the “doe” I killed Sunday night… also seeing if I figured out how to do video on here
Last 5 days of gun season. My Bucks are all nocturnal. Still only one that I would shoot. He was last at the food plots on the 18th at 0300. I set a ground blind at the turnip to today. We are getting snow tomorrow and colder temps the last few weeks of the VT season, which ends on December 15. I'll be sitting the blind starting Monday as much as I can hoping he comes in at last light one evening.
Superb hunt we had this evening. He went to his stand about 50 yards below cabin and I went into an impromptu ground blind made out out of sticks n logs about 50 yards opposite direction. Really felt kinda cool doing it the way I did 5 40 years ago. I ended up seeing 10 deer including this new guy. Seen his rack coming through some real thick stuff 30 yards away. He walked out into the wide open plowed field and went for parts unknown. Never seen him before. A wide but short tined 5x5. He looked quite old. Shortly after, I seen moment. There are 3 main trails somewhat converging where I was sitting. At that time, the were 3 deer each on those 3 trails all heading my way. Within a few seconds, I was surrounded. This hunt was for fun n meat, first deer that gave me a great shot was a fawn. Bout 15 yards and I fricken shot low. All deer bolted. Felt like idiot. Snuck back to the cabin slow n quite to not screw up my old buddies hunt. Got in, got undressed, looked out and seen 6 does walk right by him. He didn't shoot. I couldn't figger it out until he came in at dark and realize he'd already shot a doe before I took my shot. He stayed in his stand so he would disturb my hunt. Haha. Got his out and loaded up. What a great hunt! He's 81 and I'm gonna be so bummed and (lost) when he can no longer join me on the hunt. I've forgotten 100s of hunts over the years but the ones with him remain vivid. Anyhow, here's a pic of the buck from this sit. Taken about 150 yards where I sat. Very happy your able to get back to hunting Sota.
We are not worthy Tony! Simply the BEST blood trail ever. You have set the bar high my friend. A must watch. TURN THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP.
