Well it is freaking cold here! I got out early and went to the garden stand. It sits right directly 45 yards across from the big yellow apple tree with garden between. I did my best to be quiet as there was little wind and zero cover noise. Did well for as I sat down and settled in I start hearing crunch, crunch, crunch they are under tree finally eating all those dropped apples. Finally I may have some luck. I can't see a thing but occasional white tail flip. Then A grunt and I barely see white moving in. Yep he came in and pushed them all out flags and bouncing blobs headed up to sanctuary. A bit after light in comes.....spike. Well what I thought was the spike. I ranged him and turns out it's a rather nice 4. His beams come up then curl out to outer ear tips and has a single very thin tine on each side 4-5 " long very dark boxy young body.. he stood broadside 15 mins at 38 yards munching apples. Yes pass I hoped he'd go up and push girls back down. No because I see white in sanctuary going past and thought who the hells walking through a field in gun with a big white cap on. Duh one of the big boys still alive and he was head to the back line of sanctuary. Probably pushing the girls around.
Wish I had pics but half way down drive trying to sneak out quiet on comes the deck light and I hear " you forgot your phone". Obviously I froze and did not answer. " you forgot your phone" rang out 2 more times before he gave up...LOL
I got home and said "I love you honey for your concern, please NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!"

I'm gonna try to get back to it on Monday as well. I haven't bought a firearms tag in probably 15 years, but with the way things have been with our situation I'm seriously considering it. Good luck to you!

It’s way to warm and the deer are not moving. Haven’t heard a shot for hours. Hopefully it picks up for everyone this afternoon.

I’m really looking forward to bow hunting Wattensaw WMA starting the day after Thanksgiving.

That’s an entirely different level of deer hunting.

The deer there are extremely well educated by years of extreme bow hunting pressure. I’ve said before on here how the bucks and mature does actually look up searching for hunters.

With the leaf cover gone it gets even more difficult to not get picked off and get a shot.

The limit in that zone is three deer and it’s rare for someone to tag out even though to the season runs through the end of February.

Google ‘alpaca rafts’ pretty sure discount code ‘Randy’ will get you 10% off…from what I hear they’re really durable and packable.

Check your equipment. I picked up my bow to practice this afternoon. First time touching it since killing a buck last weekend. I discovered that the cover for the fiber optic line came loose while I was getting the buck out of the woods. Lost my sight light in the process. Looks like I will be contacting Black Gold tomorrow to see if warranty will cover this. Be nice if they replace the light as well since it is their’s as well. Before and after pics.

Had very spotty service at the farm for gun season. Had bow in hand for half of it but it was slower than molasses for deer movement down there. Very odd. Oh well plenty of season left . Will do buck inventory on local bow spot after gun season. Probably hit some public soon. Hope second rut is more intense than first here. Slowest season ive had in awhile.

I’ll confess that when I get behind on LFTS I don’t even try to get caught up. I’ll skim through and try to congratulate anyone who killed a deer, but I’m too busy trying to kill deer myself and keep things updated to read every post when I’m 4 pages or more behind.

    Quite refreshing to see.
These two ( looks like) younger bucks showed up today.
    I've not seen them before.
They made it through gun season, which is an almost non event around here anymore.

This year was just a great year for decent bucks. I would not have not figured it after last years BRUTALL winter.
Barring another horrible winter, I'm already going into next season on a high note.

Year in/ out, this scrape goes almost dead from about nov 8th_20 th.

for the next 2 weeks, i expect alot more visits..
i did move my cam to a different tree today. For some reason, it was not picking up a large amount of deer.
i like this tree better .
those scrapes in the pics are annual hot spots. Cant say how many pics over the years but its ALLOT!

Oops! 80 yards at sunset yesterday … it was the biggest “doe “ of the group. There goes my gun buck tag.

On the positive note, he will eat good and it was a good clean quick kill … blood trail was insane! I have video Tdk… text me if you want me to send it… don’t know how to on here.

I’ve never shot a young buck by mistake before (not counting a button)

WTG Tony. I've had that happen before as well. It don't matter, they all taste the same. Congrats!
