So son had a wild quick hunt. Ran to camp for a last chance hunt after work. Pulls into drive and glances over lawn edge that drops straight down the hill.. there in range is this guy eating apples under one of many trees down there. He pulls forward grab bow jumps out and makes it to the edge . The buck swings as he shoots and the arrow went into throat . Arrow still in him he made it a dozen yards and fell over.

    Thank heavens he didn't inherit my luck...LOL IMG_6878(2).jpg IMG_6882.jpg

    Correct Mod It.
Shot in Mn and ended up in ND.
Been a problem for many years. Sucks. Was a very nice buck.
I ended up walking about 6 miles of unreal, nasty riverbottoms today.
.Purdy much all 6_8' tall pig weed.
    I'm one pooped fella!
Calves are burning. Feet have blisters.
We had a great time. Seen a good amount of deer. Couple good bucks.

Bummer ! Wish there was some rule in place for situations like this. More than likely people would abuse it then it would be a problem.

Does n young buck seldom swim the river. It's most always an older good buck.
Have had to wade/ swim out several times to retrieve deer over the past 40 years. Lol.

Dammit, I've brought up driving deer several times here with basically no responses but I'm gonna do it again.

I've been doing it for many years along with various friends. It can be so damned effective!!
Get rid of the gun hunting mentality. Find a trail through THICK cover, find a tree to hide behind . Have your buddies push the bush.
I've shot probably 50 deer this way with an arrow and have seen 100s more shot this way..
It used to be damned near a way of life for my buddies n myself.
Driving deer to a bow is just as effective as to a gun . Only difference is, with a bow, get in the nasty stuff but find a trail.
Not waiting for a deer to bust out into a field and blast away.
Heck, if I was younger, I could have started a youtube channel and filmed all the fun/ success we've had over the years.
Have seen some really bizarre stuff over the years.:eek2:

I was following that bloodtrail today through some super thick stuff. Looked ahead and seen what I thought may be the buck.
Slowly crept up. Here was a shopvac stuck in a logjam. (Riverbottom prone to spring floods). Blood trail went right over it and the vac was sprayed with blood. Lol.
Sorry, going off rail again. But I wish you all would get together with some buddies n try it. It can be a hoot.

    Congrats to your son Old.

We use to do a ton of deer drives with bows, some of my finest memories. Most were in urban areas and had obscene numbers of deer come by, last one we did was over 10 years ago. Need to get back to that fun high energy stuff.

My hunt today culminated in 3 Doe and this little guy chasing one of the Doe. She went through in front of me, then I heard grunting off to my left in the ravine where the creek is. The Doe eventually heads downhill away from me. When the Buck comes out of the ravine he starts tracking her but cant figure it out. So, mouth open and grunting repeatedly , the Buck walks around in front of me for 10min and got as close as 20yds. Little 3pt, I've had him on camera all year. Grow up little man. I'm looking for your grand father who's out here somewhere.
