Best of luck on the track. So cool that your friend still gets after it in his 80's, something we all hope to be able to do.

I'm not sure I tracked a deer that sat over night with heavy frost. Any insight if the frost hinders tracking deer the following morning?

Good luck morning crew! @bucksnbears I hope the track job is an easy one! I am almost done butchering up the buck I killed Friday night, I should finish that tonight. Riding the pine for my least productive work week of the year.

Winds so funny, very stiff out of NW.
First wood chimney smoke a while later someone's breakfast, now their dryer sheets. Down hill from me nearest house 3/4 mile. That tells ya how scent travels

6 does just came through acting all nervous and looking back. They milled around for a while and then moved off. I thought there might be horns following but not yet

They close school for opening day of gun season in your district? Always wished they did growing up but mine did not. Should be a holiday here in MI, lol

Students have the day. It is professional development for teachers....but I will call in sick.

Soooo much easier this way. Tough to get substitue teachers and too many kids gone to do a good job teaching, especially at the high school level.

Beautiful morning, awesome spot, but haven’t seen a thing.
In the dark I had deer go by at about 75 yards to my right, and left.
Ghost town ever since. Still optimistic, think I might kill something at about 9- 9:30

Warming. Wish I wasn't afraid of my big heater buddy. Ahhh. You tube or outdoor news . Can't recall which, old guy killed in blind when his blew up. Mines sat in it's case stored ever since... hubby may have used it at camp one year. To stay warm while wood stove heated up.

image.jpg image.jpg As usual nothing going on here. I did get a fly by from a grouse. At this rate this will be the worst year for buck sightings. I am sitting on the neighbors again in my climber with bedding and dead falls all over the place and my thick woods on the other side of me, perfect travel way for cruising bucks. Probably doesn’t help that it is 54 degrees and the gun season isn’t helping. Crazy year

Just had a 1.5 6 point at 20 yards. Substantial little rack for such a youngster, he’s gonna be a stud,

Neighbor in his 80's with swamp bedding is cutting fire wood on other side of swamp . Hoping he pushes something up this way the way dogs are going at it he may have pushed them across street. In his mid 80's I hope he's chunking and not cutting. Scares me to death watching him trying to cut huge tall DEAD ash.

I would think tree stand therapy counts as "professional development" lol. I usually try to take open day off but lack of PTO days this year. I did take Friday off so will hunt with the kids a couple days this weekend. Made more since than to just take one day off in middle of week
