Well I made a great choice but neighbors had other ideas. 4:30 I had 7 deer pile out of the neighbors swamp and head to the opening in my fence directly infront of me at 30. 3 big doe with 4 fawn. They literally are about to walk through opening when neighbor across street sets off a cap. Just one, though that sets off his and other neighbors across streets tied out dogs. The doe turned and went right back to swamp. Barking non stop went on until close...then stopped.

Congrats to all who killed this weekend!
I've been sidelined this weekend because of weather. Hoping next weekend will be different.

So I'm going to be able to get serious this week. My mother has progressed to the point that my wife can handle things by herself for a while. I do feel a bit guilty about leaving things mostly to her but she says she really wants me to hunt and so I'm going to hit it hard this week. I'm hoping for the best-in the field and at home.

20231112_065527.jpg I'm glad for those who have killed already .. first sit at this spot .. sat 5 hrs this AM, saw two bucks, 1 little guy worked two scrapes, chased a doe grunting like crazy, another small buck passed by 60 yds out as did another doe ... this is the pic of the little guy working the scrape .... then as I watched him and the doe when they went to my back right, I saw the stand, 36 yds away (public land)... CRAP !! ... guessing its a gun guy , it looks like it was just put up this past week, gun opens Sat. .... and here I was thinking Id have this great little spot to myself as its a good travel corridor ... ...... I'm not going back to that spot this season, its for a s/se wind as I have other locations where I can go for those winds where stands can not be left "unattended" per property regs ... not to mention who's ever it is, its illegal as it dosnt have Name/address or cust. license ID on it as I looked, par for the course for some of these idiots out there ... ... unfortunately this little guy may not make thru gun out there, waaaay to many "brown and downers" ... Luckily "Bonus antlerless tags" CAN NOT be used on Fish and Wildlife areas here in Indiana, however, they can be taken with a ML tag however come ML season in Dec. .. I'll kill a doe or eat my tag before I'll ever kill a buck that young ..

btw, I saw over a dozen deer on the drive in along the property/main road there (4AMish), they were working their way back into the refuge, 4 were bucks and one was a darn nice tall tined 8 pt... they know where they are safe .. this weather will suck this week here, I'm recouping and rewashing some hunting clothes, taking tomorrow off and resting, and will figure out what to do/where to go as this crappy weather warms ... luckily I have some other good locations for southerlies

Well, my old buddy had a great time. Had 4 small bucks and 6 does come by at 14 yards.
It super thick in there and about the farthest viz is about 25 yards.
First time in a treestand this year. His wife wants him to hunt from the ground but he kinda Trumped her wishes and sat in a real sturdy 2x ladderstand I set up real tight to a steep riverbank.
He's been bowhnting for 60+ years and said it just felt awesome to be in a tree.
I window watched this eve and movement was purty slow.

Nothing for me. Fun night with my son. I decided I'd shoot a doe right close to final light, since I really wanted him to see it. Got to fill draw, needed her to take two steps. No dice. Oh well, he had a blast. Leaving the blind my target buck had snuck all the way around to get upwind and was only at about 30 yds. .

    Oh well, fun night.

I went to the same stand this afternoon. Really thought it would kick off again in the last hour of the day, but nothin.
Now that I’ve walked a bit, I’m not seeing a single scrape. In places that are usually loaded. Every deer I’ve seen has been 1.5 yo.
There’s been EHD in this area, I’ve heard. Getting a little concerned.
