    Seen a fricken Dandy behind my cabin today. New buck.
    3:50 p.m.
    He pushed a doe and pinned her down right behind my garage for awhile then pushed her out into WIDE open field till dark.
    Every time she'd try to get back to my woods, he'd cut her off and keep her from doing it.
    Dang, wish I still had a buck tag.

    I feel real good about mornings these coming days. Despite highs in the 60’s, it’ll be 35 at daybreak with a nice variety of wind directions.
    New moon and moon overhead at 11am.
    Some bucks should hit the dirt tomorrow, Look out!

    Depends on if your wife is going to tolerate having multiple deer heads mounted and displayed. If you don’t have anywhere cool to hang it don’t bother. Spending all that cash and then putting it in the basement is a waste IMO.

    Be careful cleaning you deer, my Havalon knife slipped while butchering the buck this morning. Three hours in urgent care and I have 5 stitches in my pinky, a Tdap shot, and amoxicillin prescription.

    I quit using those things because of that. My blades kept coming off while inside the cavity! Needs better retention system

    It wasn’t the retention system, the blade just slipped through some meat faster than I thought it would, couldn’t get my finger out of the way fast enough.

    Oh i remember! :biggrin:. After seeing that big mofo today me and my buddy are moving in on him. We had planned to head back to public but not now knowing hes close. This thing was magnificent

    Outside of little Debbie’s you ain’t lying. Minnesota gun season takes a toll on my body. Just started doing deer camp where drinking is involved last year. SOS.

    Doing an all day sit hungover with 4 hours of sleep is so hard.

    The GF said tonight “well you’re going to shoot something tomorrow right we need venison for summer sausage and sticks”…. I told her I’m honestly more buck hunting than venison hunting. I’ve got lucky the last 3 years with euro mount bucks. Rude awakening when you tell yourself nothing is getting an arrow/bullet unless it’s going on the wall.

    Those things are crazy sharp! Remember to keep that thing clean. Wear rubber nitrile glove if you have to gut anymore deer. I almost lost my right arm due to a cut on my elbow!

    I meant just to make sure to keep it clean. Come to think of it i have a bunch of pairs of cut safety gloves i wear to butcher with a nitrile glove over the top. Probably safer just to use them to gut and skin with too IMG_5517.png

    Brett, I meant to text you and got side tracked. Those small logs you piled up in the road in my valley so you'd know to turn left at the tree? That buck came in from behind me, walked over and sniffed them before walking right to the base of the tree you were in.
