I hear ya, would love to kill 2-3 more myself. It’s tough over here, just don’t have that much of a resident population. I think that’s why I kill some great bucks here though, the bucks really have to travel if they want to get some
Now that I'm cleaned up and the buck is hanging, here's the story. I rattled a bit and snort wheezed around 5pm, 10min later I saw limbs swinging across the corn field. Small buck was thrashing about. He walked past me at 50yds into the brush and disappeared. Shortly after, I heard another grunt and a little bigger 6 or 8pt came from behind me pushing into the same thicket. I tried to get him to come out into the open in hopes of getting a shot at him but he kept moving along. Another 10-15min later I saw him come back my way but he looked worried, this 10pt was chasing him. I grunted and he turned off and headed my way, stopped at 15yds.
@INbowhunter , congrats on your first buck with a bow @vermontwhitetail , congrats on your buck, you were into the deer tonight. @archbunk , great job on your buck.
Internal conflict ensues. Trying to decide if I get him shoulder mounted since it is my first archery buck or just euro mount. I told my wife if I shoot a mature deer, he's going on the wall.
Hes a shoulder mount all day. Nice rack, mass, 10pts and first with a bow. No question, a shoulder mount!
My first archery buck 2 years ago was almost the exact same size as yours. I got mine euro (I broke the tip off the acorn G2). Kind of regret not doing shoulder but it’s alright. I’ll get a bigger one someday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is because Jake Spent the shoulder mount money on Grizzly pouches, Busch Light, and little Debbie products
