image.jpg Made a move right along the swamp, had a little fork horn come in on me while setting up. Might move again if I can find a better tree

Well, i suck! I finally see some deer this morning, picked off by doe # 1 trying to draw, cannot get 6 pointer to respond to my calls, then does 2 and 3 get within 20 yards and I miss doe # 2. I think I have the yips?? On my way to put about 25 down range! Great morning for seeing!

Well, that’s it for me. The season ends on Tuesday and Shotgun season opens on Wednesday. There is a bonus week between Christmas and New Year’s, but there is no way I’m sitting in even colder weather in this place.

I’m letting go of these woods and the dream I’ve had since I was 10. times change, these woods are no where near as good as they used to be.

I have a few ideas for next season, which involve a early season trip somewhere Columbus Day weekend, and I’m going to find a place in the Midwest for a 7 day rut hunt.

    good luck everyone!!

Quick update. Action this am then it slowed down. Thermals screwed me at one point and couple does busted me. Decided to get down and make a move into the bottoms. I glassed for awhile before heading down in here and just bumped a GIANT. He was laid down with a doe. They ran opposite directions so im gonna try to circle around and back into the wind where that doe went. Trying not to bump her again will be the challenge. Hopefully he works his way back looking for her. Ill expect him to circle into the wind to find her if he foesnt see her. Wow he was HUGE…..

Heading out soon for the evening hunt, hopefully something will check the bedding area. I’ll check in from the stand.

I waxed my bow string, looked on 802 Hunt Crew to see who's killing what on VT rifle opener, took a leek, soaking up the sun at my back, watched the neighbor go put out a new salt block 200yds from me in shorts and a tshirt on this 55 degree day with 10mph winds. He will probably be in his climber around 230. No deer seen yet. Deer calendar lied, said major movement 1020-1220. That's the mid day report.

Back at home. Not sure if I’ll go out tonight or not. Having dinner at the in laws might just have some drinks and dinner.
