What a fun night. Covered in deer the last 45 + minutes. Six point, fork, and single time chasing 6 does all over the field, up to 25 yards from me. Shooter buck finally came out the last 20 minutes, skirted just out of range and then stood in my little fledgling orchard along my grass screen winding the field. Tried to rattle him in, kept looking but didn't seem interest. Lost him in the darkness which is rough because that's my path out. Update, got out reasonably clean. Didn't see a deer tonight and I could see a good ways in a few directions. Just odd, thought I'd see at least some young ones and fawns.
I fiund the arrow, looks great, started tracking blood for about 25 yards, easy tracking. My wife was bringing the kids out to help track. The are 1/2 mile rom the parking area and find a half acre wildfire along the roadside. She called me and I bailed on the track. Fire department is on scene, we have left the WMA on gone to a Sonic for dinner. Hoping the FD gets it under control so I cAn go back in. i have to recover the buck tonight. The is a permit only fire arm hunt there the next three days. I don’t have a permit so I can’t look tonight. Based on blood, I am confident the buck is dead, probably not far from where I was trailing.
So you can or cannot go back in tonight? A little confused. Don't think we've ever had a recovery of a fully cooked deer
Sounds like he will be just down the trail a bit when you get back to tracking. Good luck, recovery can be challenging nobody needs all that extra stress. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Best of luck CanTex. That would suck if that prevented you from finding your deer. Took a tour this evening. Was happy to see a few out hunting. Gun ends Sunday. Heard rumors a real giant was shot about 2 miles from me today? And yes Brett (VS), If I'm here and still have a tag, locked n loaded Purdy much always. Lol. Even take a mid day snooze with it on. Lol. Chit can happen quick and at anytime.
