Neighbor trudging through the swamp 100yds from me. Thought I could maybe avoid some pressure since it’s Friday. Oh well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Other Neighbor just got a nice one he said. Few hundred yards from me. Waiting for the pictures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tony this time of year here A Week before opener gun. I want to hear those multiple shots that suddenly start over the year. Because those single early and mostly late afternoon shots ALWAYS ends in disappearing big buck. I've listened to a few of these the last 2 days. I pray my cams show the big boys. Not the case this morning . A lot of new youger but not the big boys. Sad but true. I wish it were coyote hunters but with the # of those running around , highly doubtful so close to gun opener.
In and up. Haven't been to this spot this year, but wind is just about right. Supposed to finish with a wind from the east. On the way in the trail seemed extra worn...in my mind I was starting to get negative vibes...then the trail got narrower and narrower...where people stopped and deer were using... Scrape near where I set the stand in this bottom. Deer cross through from public on side of me toward private on my other side. Next nearest water is behind me or a mile and change in front of me... Nobody around. This is awesome, even if I don't see anything.
Just had a cool encounter with what I assume a very young buck. He had small brow tines, and then crab claw looking very small points at his tips. Grunted a few times, few estrous bleats on the can, but never presented a clean shot. Not sure I would have take it, but it was fun to have a little action. Man that's a beauty. I think I'd fall out of my stand if deer like that walked by, or some of the others yall in the upper Midwest post up... Woodpeckers are fussing at something...
Just about it for me for today. I’m going to go gather some intel further down the ridge and look for a better tree for tomorrow or next season. Good luck everyone!
