I ask all the time everywhere I go, worst they can say is no. I prefer face to face, get a good feel for the kind of person I am and how I’ll act on their property. Hell I drive around with a folder with my hunting insurance info and a written liability agreement. Just fill blanks and sign, some like it but most say it’s not necessary. I just was down in WV doing a job and went to check some land my buddy marked the timber and saw good sign and a couple big bucks. I ended up getting permission on it and at the country club the boarders it.
Kind of pointless here, anything available to hunt it is usually leased. Add to that I have a hard time asking for help, regardless of what the request is, as I feel like I am begging or can't do it myself. Just a trait I have carried my whole life, @Swamp Stalker could likely hone in on a few case points . I don't even ask guys at work that have offered a stand unless it is well out of the rut and late season. Usually just wait for an official invite. I was spoiled by some great private land before I ever had to try on my own.
Suncrest, nice! I can't even fathom that scenario? I've given up probably close to 2000 acres of superb land in the past couple years I've had permission to hunt with nothing more then a casual meeting/ acceptance. I'd say a vast majority would be given permission if they asked. Hell, about 10 years ago, I was filled out and put an add in the Fargo Forum 150,000+ readers, for 2 Vets to come hunt, free, cabin for the week, ect. Had quite a few folk respond that they would come help cook, drag deer, skin, buther etc. i was grateful for that. I did not get ONE SINGLE response to come hunt. And this add ran for 14 days. Sorry for thread derail. Get a few beers in me and I forget what thread I'm on Jump in your truck and head north Cls. Non res tag is 180.00$ I think. Bring a case of beer.
Haha!!!! Yea! Way to go brother!! Today wasnt my day but cant tell you how happy this makes me. Awesome man! Congrats
You know i will. I will grind until the next one hits the dirt. Then ill keep grinding as long as i still have tags! Its all i know. Keep going.
So my day was long but mama said there would be those days. Or however that saying goes. I was still optimistic to come back in the AM to this public and was coming up with a plan. My buddy hunted here a week ago and had an encounter with a Hammer. I tried to setup in a better spot than he was cause he told me what these deer were doing on couple evenings. Well i tried to come in a different way cause i had opposite wind and made too much noise. So my evening hunt might have been boogered up by self infliction. Still saw 2 does today. Alone. i end up getting phone call i need to pick my daughter up tomorrow afternoon so i will do a local hunt tomorrow AM. Putting plan together and i think i WILL shoot this guy. Hes asking for it.plus i get 2 buck tags. Been waiting for a couple other good bucks in area to show up and nothing. This one has been daylighting every day in same area. Very killable as long as he doesnt jump ship first. This was today
