Well we are back home. We traveled to a section 3 hours away and almost every piece we wanted to hunt was shut down/closed on 8/25 for cattle grazing. Tried to get permission on a few pieces and didn’t have any luck. We should have given our original spots more time/one more sit instead of thinking the grass is greener on the other side. Still an amazing trip with awesome memories made! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Beautiful evening 70 degrees partly cloudy skies, light breeze and the babbling brook, but I didn't see a thing. Felt good to be in a stand with a bow in my hands. Good luck everyone!
Got in some extra shooting this afternoon in the 104 Heat index. Grouping at 40 yards. My youngest wanted to stand on my platform this morning when I was practicing out of the saddle.
This just looks like it would wear you out for a 4 hour sit. Guess I’m old fashioned and like leaning against the tree.
I am not doing in the picture, but if you lean back with the ropes adjusted properly, you are almost weightless and it is not tiring at all.
Hiked 4 miles in 60 minutes this morning with a 75lb pack. Hear index was 99 by the time I finished. Deer don’t pack themselves out.
10 days till my opener! Got the gear ready to go, except for my hunting clothes, gotta give those a wash!
4 days to my doe only. Thunderstorms first 3 days and rain everyday at least through the14th. Season ends the 17th. Let's hope rain only days are staggard during day. I love hunting a very light misty rain but above that won't risk a possible trailing fiasco.
No hunting for me yet but got my 8 yo daughter out yesterday on Lake Ontario and we finally were able to get her her first King salmon Sent from my SM-A326U using Tapatalk
I'm back, after a long hiatus, I've finally made a return. Last year...not all deer related, was a "S" show. Between starting and running a business, my other "normal" job, some medical stuff with wife, general life/family responsibilities etc, I had to take a break from everything. I also knew something wasn't right in my head, so I started going to the VA for counseling, it's been good, and I'll leave that at that. My bow has been in the case since last season, I haven't done anything to prep, although I cut some funnel trails in the tall grass field, that was my "opening" to reach out to Chief and get my ass back into the game. That's where I'll leave it, no reason to bring down the LFTs thread.
Delayed poison ivy reaction started yesterday. Both hands and both legs with very swollen eyes. No fun.
