Best friend is hunting in Kentucky. His wife shot a buck tonight going to help her track it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The last 1.5 hours was entertaining. I saw 3 or 4 little bucks tonight chasing. About 12 does/fawns...almost all fawns. No shooting.
Deer were moving great from 2:30 to 3:45. A weird front came through and things shut off like crazy. Like instant! He'll, even I felt differently when it hit? Sota, day 5 of gun season and i doubt i've heard 20 shots. Years ago, it wasn't uncommon to hear 100/200 opening morning. There is basically no one hunting anymore. Sad to see such a treasured tradition going away.
No luck. Looks like high shoulder with a .243. Followed not so good blood for a while, found some bone, then jumped him. He was moving slow and looked hurt. Going back in the morning. Will need to quarter the thing out if he’s dead man he went far into that swamp. I’m sitting it out tomorrow. 20-30mph winds. Took Friday off for an all day sit and likely Saturday too. One more day till I can get out and kill! Perfect NNW wind being called for and low 30s partly cloudy. Moon guide am major movement being called for right when the swamp thermals start to rise. I’m going in at grey light and will find a spot 20 yards off the military crest and kill a good buck cruising for a hot doe.
Heard rumors that hunters that see more wolf sign than deer are not going to hunt anymore. Coworker that retired finally shot a nice buck after 50 years of hunting, said he was done. Greenies admit it the deer and the moose population plunge is not climate change if it was wolf populations would be effected too.
Weather is changing quick. Hoping the buck movement changes along with it tomorrow. Will be headed in at 430am by kayak.
