Down and out. Did not see a thing. Pulled 3 cameras on the way out. Sporadic deer movement and a few hunters. Going to move elsewhere.
this damn weather sucks !! ... Vac. #2 starts Friday and they are showing 50's to mid 60's next week.. Ive got good locations for southerlies, but the BETTER locations are for northerlies .... I may not be able to get into those better locations 'cause of the winds .... I wanted 30's/40's during the day/ with snow flurries(no accumulation) and some sleet/drizzle, you know, deer hunting weather !! .. crap !! .... then gun opens the 18th ...
Well… out… just that shooter early that gave me no shot.. back up at 1… high 70s Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I was listening to a podcast with Dr. Grant Woods and if I remember right he said around 25% of his bucks he has killed it has been with a dead doe he had just shot. I need to go back and find that podcast again. I found it very interesting. Deer don't relate dead deer like a human would. It doesn't phase them at all and could potentially help.
It's at the ready. Plans kee getting derailed. After hunting the private land Saturday I decided to sit the warm spell out and have Thursday and Friday during the short cold front back on private. Was going to be 3 of us hunting, but just found out he is only being allowed to take one person, so either Thursday or Friday. Letting the other guy pick his day as he has never killed a deer before. Have a package being delivered that I have to sign for this afternoon so my favorite day is kaput. Waiting to hear back if I'm hunting Thursday or Friday.
Well, i'm almost out. At least I got a good three mile walk for exercise. Going to grab a barbecue sandwich to see if that gives me some energy for the afternoon. Have only seen three deer in the last twenty four hours.
Out for lunch. After all the buck pics on camera I only seen one doe this morning. It would be nice to see some daylight rut activity Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
I have done that myself several years ago while gun hunting. Haven't pulled it off with a bow yet. But, this time of year, I am not afraid to shoot a doe, especially out of group and let it lay if the temps will allow for it. Then it becomes potential breeding bait.
Back from voting , geezzz that was just sad. Town supervisor , let's just say, not the best Republican out there or a kill me now Democrat. Then everyone else all republicans. Out of two board members only one isn't another supervisor clone. Dear God even the lesser of two evils, if you can get that anymore, makes one want to puke after voting. Also the clearing weather has gotten worse raining and temps dropping like a rock, windy as all get out. Had to drive under electric wires with trees hung up on them. Not scary at all...hhmmmm
Amen to that, fed chicks so checked scrape cam. 4 a.m. buck, a buck fight. Between big 8 and a way smaller bodied 8. Then a few doe and fawn at 1a.m.
Yup. I was driving to some public land a couple years ago, around the rut. There was a buck bedded (in a drainage ditch, just of the road, with a road killed doe...I literally did a u turn to check it out rigor had already set in on the doe.
It is really hot and that has me thinking to just head home on Nov 7th and not hunt the afternoon. Terrible
Hunt! I almost didn’t yesterday it’s was 67* and I saw 4 buck one was at or above 150” they started moving around 3pm.
I'm trying to push myself mentally. It's 75 with rising humidity. Just feels hot. Yesterday afternoon I got bit by mosquitoes. Weather change overnight Wed. Thank gooodness.
